Last night my little girl woke up with both eyes swelled shut. Yesterday evening she looked as if there were a few mosquite bites on her eye lids, so I thought  that I would take her to the Doc today, which I did.  She woke me up about 4 am with both eyes almost swelled shut.
He told me that it may be "orbital cellulitis" which is 99 precent deadly. He scared me to death. He told me that since I was an R.N. that he was going to give her oral medications and send her home. I would keep a close watch on her and if nothing changed by 10 am tomorrow I was to go to the hospital and he would have her a room. Needless to say I cried while she slept ( once we got home.)  He said he wouldn't give a definite dx because he had never seen it in both eyes.
Anyway she slept for about 4 hours and everytime I looked at her... her eyelid swelling had gone down and by the time she woke up it was gone.
I am so mad at him for scaring me like that. Next time I see him I am going to tell him that he had me crying and on my knees for hours. Not fair.

I have had that happen in college.  I found out it was a weird food allergy to instant coffee believe it or not.  The top half of my face swelled - eyes, ears (weird feeling) and nose - not inside, but outside.  They had to give me a few shots of Benedryl and adrenalin and within the next 24 hours it was completely gone.  So weird.

I hope they figure out what caused that.

My granddaughter came home from school a couple of weeks ago and her face was swollen and when she got up next morning she was swollen so bad she could barely open her eyes.  My daughter took her to the Dr. and he said it looked like poison ivy and gave her a shot and some pills.  When she went back to school she found out that there were other kids who had the same thing happen. The school traced the problem back to someone who was burning out a fence row close to the school and there was poison ivy along it.

I'd say he has a sick sense of humor.  What he did was inexcusable IMO.

I think I will cause a fuss about being sick. I knew I was getting worse when I had my little girl at the doctors. I was breathing very badly, but I was far more worried about her.
Last night I left her with my son for the night and went to ER My. O2 sat was 89. Most people have 99 to 100. I was in kinda bad shape.They all jumped on me and made me be able to breath better. I know I should have stayed but I had to be home for Kayla. I don't want her to know I am sick. I am basically all all she has.
One day soon she will have to know but she has had some trauma in her life and I am putting that time off..

I think so too, but every time I say anything to him he just says I aman Rn (I worked with him) and that I should be used to it. Ok I was an RN but I am not taking my child to him as an RN but I am taking my little girl to a doctor.

I guess he don't understand being a scared mother but thats still no excuse for what he did.
