I don't know...tariffs...trade wars maybe?  :spooked:

Calm down.....let the man make the deal....we were already being screwed by China and about every other nation........get back to me when the deal is done.

Here's something that neither Trump nor anyone else seems able to grasp:  The reason we have such large deficits has nothing to do with everyone else trying to fuck us.  The reason we have such large trade deficits (and always will) is because we are a rich nation of consumers and we consume far more than we have the capacity to make or provide.

If wages go up but everything costs more, are you really making more money?
Quote from: Exterminator on June 25, 2018, 01:20:37 PM
Proven fact...raising the minimum wage stimulates the economy...look it up if you don't believe me.

And by the way, those two statements have absolutely nothing to do with one another.

They don't? If minimum wage is raised the cost is passed on to the customer of the business so everyone's buying power is decreased including those who are paid the higher minimum wage. It would also put mom and pop businesses out of business in a lot of cases. Therefore it does not stimulate the economy at all.

Hey Tight Asshole, Poppa John's said that they would have to raise the price of their pizza 7cents.  You mean, you tight wad that you can't pay 7cents more for a pizza so people can live a little better, the people who makes them.  Talk a bout a greedy narcissist Republican.    :groan:

Therein lies the flaw to your thinking.  There is absolutely no correlation between the two.  When I get a raise and a bonus every year, the costs to our clients doesn't increase because of it.  You also fail to take into consideration that those people whose minimum wage is increased are now going to have increased spending power which means those businesses will be selling more, ergo, will already be making more money without having to raise prices.

QuoteIt would also put mom and pop businesses out of business in a lot of cases.

Most mom and pop businesses pay their employees more than minimum wage because they value them.

QuoteTherefore it does not stimulate the economy at all.

Allow me to make a suggestion that I'm sure you won't follow: stop making comments on issues that you clearly have not researched.  Raising the minimum wage absolutely stimulates the economy and study after study has proven this to be true.

Here's something for you to consider surrounding your baseless assertions above: Sam's Club and Costco are engaged in roughly identical businesses.  We can assume they share many of the same suppliers and their costs and overhead are roughly the same.  Sam's Club (being an extension of WalMart) pays low wages and offers few to no benefits.  Costco pays a living wage and offers their employees full benefits.  Sam's Club wishes their profitability was half of what Costco's is.  If what you assert is true, how is this possible?
