Noodles?

Yeah. That's what I said the first few years after I moved to Indiana. After that I just go with it.

"Just ain't thanksgiving without chicken and noodles."

I guess the tryptophan in the turkey isn't enough.  :roll eyes:  Anyway, Amish Noodles, shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, and some spices. . . Good, but I'd rather save the room for stuffing and cranberries.

Only place I've run across it is in Indiana. . . But then they looked at me like I was an alien when I brought out the cranberries.  :big grin:

I've slowly converted a couple of them to the cranberry side.  :icon_twisted:

My stuffing is the way my mom made it. . . Just not as good as hers yet. . . She left before I could figure out what is missing. . .

Olives.  That's our secret ingredient.  Just enough to add flavor.  A family friend hates olives but loves my stuffing.  When I told him the ingredients, he was floored and asked for the recipe.  He didn't think olives could make something taste so good!

Never heard of having chicken and noodles either.
We will have turkey, dressing, cranberry salad, lime salad, green beans, corn, squash, apple salad, mash potatoes, gravy sweet potato bake and rolls. I make a pumpkin cake and a chess pie.

It really ISN'T Thanksgiving without, "HOMEMADE" Chicken & Noodles........that is a long family tradition.  My granny made them, my mom made them, and now, my wife and I make them EVERY Thanksgiving and it is the MAIN dish, ahead of the the Turkey.

We use 5lbs of flour, at lease 2 dozen eggs and two whole chickens every year....and it is gone every year.

We will make the noodles tonight. My wife mixes and rolls out the dough, I roll it up and slice them, as thin as possible and lay them out to dry over night.  Then boil the chicken in the morning, tear up all the white meat and I give my dog the dark as his treat.  I strain the broth.  I don't drop the noodles in the pots (I use two) until about an hour before we leave for my sister-in-laws.

Good stuff!!!

Your chicken and noodles sounds very close to my chicken pot pie.  I roll the dough a bit thin, but cut into squares.  The chicken broth has onions, carrots and parsley in it, and sliced potatoes, too.    That's how we make it in PA Dutch country.  So good!   This is not to be confused with chicken pie!

Since I am at home I went ahead and did all of the pre work today for my wife's stuffing and her deviled eggs. Then I made my cornbread stuffing  and baked it; which was in the fridge by the time she came home.

I boiled her 15 eggs and peeled them for her too, so all she had to do was cut them apart and make the filling. I even washed the dishes for her when she was done. She made her stuffing as well.

So, we had stuffing for dinner tonight (mine) and I also had cranberries.  :smitten:

I also made the pies today as well. (Punkin and German Chocolate).

Tomorrow all we have to do is get up, stuff the bird and drop it into the roaster. Then we sit back and wait for everyone to get here. I'll put my stuffing into the oven about 20 minutes before we sit down to eat, along with the rolls.

Everyone else is bringing something, including the chicken noodles, mashed potatoes, baked beans, and desserts.

This time tomorrow I will be in a turkey coma. . .   And Friday its turkey sandwiches (  :drool1: ), and Sunday I will be making Turkey Pot Pie!  :big grin:

Xmas it will be baked ham.  8)
