No, you made the claim of a spelling error and not grammatical errors. I make those big dea!. No device is going to correct grammatical errors but your claim was spelling. Everyone under the sun makes grammatical errors.  Yes, it has been explained that kids who can't get the basics, often can get the higher stuff taught to them. Kids in kindergarten are being taught Geometry and Algebra. Why? To teach them to compete with kids abroad. We may never be able to really compete with them but we need to try and get them where they can compete.  I have explained that my 13 year old son couldn't get the basics of Math and no matter how hard my husband and I worked with him; his brain isn't wired for basic Math but he can do Trig Algebra and Quad Equations. I can't even do those and you do realize that we use that type of Math everyday!
You want to keep kids in a rut and they are never going to be able to compete if we don't get with the times.
By the way, it would be myself that would have to catch the grammatical errors and I don't, you didn't make the claim of those. Like I said everyone under the sun makes those and it isn't a device that would correct those but the person making the statement. If I had wanted to have been an English major, I would have gotten my degree in that, I didn't. I chose Social Sciences instead!

You are right about one thing and that is you have no clue!! I doubt that you ever have!
What frustrations? I have none, life is great and we are still waiting on data for you to show how common core doesn't work and your so called data  that private and homeschooled kids out perform public school kids!
Now, you made the claim that I made an error but you didn't say grammatical error, and everyone makes those, had you made that claim I would have said yes, I make them every day, so what? You made the so called claim of spelling errors. Does it suck when you know you can't admit that you didn't allude to which one?  I am sure in your infinitesimal mind you don't see how wrong you are!! By the way, I could point out the grammatical error that you made but why should I?

As a person that likes to put his thoughts into words, I tend to type at a very rapid pace. This means I can at times, overlook misspellings and grammar mistakes. I know this about myself and use the tools available as an editing process. (Yes, I typically re-read everything I post; preferably before posting and sometimes afterwards. I hate misspelling and grammatical mistakes with a passion, so I try to correct myself as best I can. I am not always successful).

If this is a crutch then so be it. I prefer to call it the proper utilization of technology to impose adherence to humankind's rules of communication.

The fact is, this personal process I have developed came about as a direct result of my college years. I at first struggled with putting my thoughts to paper, but discovered that writing them out, then editing them afterwards, took less time than trying to get it right the first pass through. And I became proficient at it in short order so it is quite natural to me now, and spares all of you the mental anguish of trying to make sense of the gibberish my initial efforts can sometimes become.

That's all well and good but you also don't belittle a person who makes one mistake, whether it be a typo or omitting a letter, and call them stupid. If I were composing a business letter or something of that nature I would use the spelling aide available in Word or whatever program I was using and most probably the setence structure aide to make sure the coorespondence looked professional but for a forum I don't feel the need to go to those lengths. I am usually multi-tasking when I'm replying to something here and don't feel the need to be perfect constantly. Life is too short to be sweating the small stuff so why berate people for making one mistake then brag because they use a tool to make sure they don't and call me lazy for not doing so then go on to tell me I don't even have the intelligence to use one? This is a place to have fun, give an opinion, and interact with people not school. You compose some amazing things PH and I understand why you want them to be professional but I'm just replying to posts and therefore don't care if they look professional which is why I use ain't, gonna, and leave the "g" off the words that end in "ing" all the time. I just flat don't want to be professional all the time and there's nothing wrong with that. It isn't being lazy or stupid it's being human and relaxed for a change. You'd be surprised how much simpler life becomes when you get over the feeling you have to be 100% on and impress people constantly. I got over that about 15 yrs ago and it feels great.

Very well said, I have found that if you want people to believe what you are conveying than you will do what it takes to make yourself sound believable and write that way also!
