What are your opinions of Dr. Ben Carson? He believes in a hard work ethic but not sure his other political views.

He's skeered to say he's running too. Keeps acting like he is but won't say it.

He's not scared.  He knows exactly what he's doing.

His views on Gun Control, Gay Marriage, and "End of Life Care" will ensure he does NOT get the nomination for POTUS out of the GOP. Those three issues alone are volatile ones and his viewpoints are 180 degrees from the party line. (Example: His position on end of life care- "Decisions on who should be treated and who should not be treated would clearly require some national guidelines", which is aligned directly against the prevalent propaganda the GOP used in fighting the ACA).

His support of a "flat tax" will rile big business in this country, effectively drying up his campaign war chest revenue flow.

His support for a tax-exempt health savings account created at birth, that can be bequeathed at death, along with an electronic medical record and birth certificate, will not go over well with the GOP either.

His performance in the GOP's own "straw polls has him finishing behind the likes of extremists Ted Cruz and Rand Paul, as well as Santorum consistently; which should tell anyone watching such things which way the party is leaning on the "issues", and what those "issues" are. Carson will not do well at all.

His position on evolution goes directly against his self proclaimed status as a "man of science trained to make decisions based on facts and empirical data."

He has waffled on several of these issues when called out on them within public venues, just like every other politician has; which is an indication of what he will do should he actually become POTUS. (Bow to the pressure that comes to bear from big business and special interests; which is likely the only thing he really has going for him in this quest from the GOP perspective).

In short, he is noise being encouraged by the party movers and shakers, so that they can point to him as an example of their "embracing diversity", and nothing more. If anything, his candidacy will serve no purpose other than to dilute the process in order to increase the likelihood of one of the more extremist candidates of obtaining the endorsement .

This was to the Carson question, correct?

I thought the same thing on some of his views but couldn't express them as well as you! I can respect that he worked hard to get where he is and to be a pediatric neurologist is a whole different type of person but I want someone who has a clear vision!

Doesn't really matter what his views are; he isn't white, ergo, will never get the Republican nomination.

I don't know about that. They have backed several in other positions who are of different races. As long as the person can do the job, race shouldn't matter. After all, Allen West is Republican and even though he was defeated, he was well thought of by Republicans.

We're talking about the POTUS...not going to happen.

It may but given the current political landscape, it won't be happening any time soon.

I agree with you.

There will have to be wholesale change in the makeup of the Republican party.  As the current makeup stands, it's FAR too RW, white, and racist.  Until that changes, the party will manipulate and use their lone colored faces as little hand puppets being waved around so as to say "see, we're diversified!", but the party will neither nominate them nor elect them.

Allen West - just like Ben Carson - is a crazy whacknut.

If you've ever listened or read the stupid things he says, you'd be glad he couldn't get elected.  He's a crazy authoritarian - and worse - to the core.

Carson is a prime example of a person who can be technically adept but a real crackpot.  That idiot actually thinks the planet is only a few thousand years old.

Those are the types of blacks the RW flaunts and encourages - the types that couldn't get elected president on a bet.

He sure is!  He is a former resident of South Florida, so I know more than most just how true those words are Y.
