It's my understanding that some members currently posting with Topix, have signed up for accounts here at the Unknown Zone. To each one of you let me extend a heartfelt welcome to this place.

I'm sure you will find it a pleasant change to the environment you've been subjected to within recent weeks, and I hope you find this forum as comfortable a place as I have.

For starters, check out the various areas in the forum. Note that some of them are moderated, and others are designated "unmoderated". That doesn't necessarily mean that no one from the administration isn't watching though. But it does mean that it is an area where heated discussions are not only allowed, but expected for the most part. You can pretty much speak your mind, within reason, and say things the way you need to say them. And if you need to cuss like a sailor then you can have at it in the unmoderated area. (Of course the legal aspects apply as outline in the TOS, so be sure to read them. The Cliff notes version is no libel, slander, etc.) This thread is placed in the unmoderated area.

The areas not designated as unmoderated are areas where we are expected to "be nice" and use milder language, and keep things clean.

There is a members area as well, and in that area are "rooms" that are the areas of members who have requested them. In those areas you'll find things that interest the various members, and some of those members have some pretty wild perspectives. (This writer included). I have an area of my own there, as do some others you may recognize. Any one of you can also get an area of your own just by requesting it from the administration. Members are free to post where ever they want to.

And I have found the admins and moderators here to be responsive, and while they do their best to remain hands off, they aren't afraid to step in when it becomes necessary. About the most common thing I've seen in the last couple of years has been the moving of a topic from the moderated area to the unmoderated area.

No advertisements and the owners take privacy very seriously; so you won't see people like Kooks in here, and no outsiders either. If someone is posting here then you can rest assured they are a member of this forum and have met the very same requirements that you have.

Sundog, I know you are here already so let me be among the first to welcome you to the Unknown Zone.

Each of you that have chosen to come here are more than welcome. And I want each of you to know that there are many other members here just as excited as I am to have you joining us.  :smile:
