And the ball is rolling.

I'm waiting to hear how the proponents of this reservoir intend to deal with toxins etc. that lie underneath the areas lining the bypass south of the river to Mounds Road.  I don't care what the Cooks have said, that area was multiple dumps - including the mall area.

Pipe were sunk back in the late 70's early 80's to vent off the methane gas that was seeping up from those old dumps...which puts the lie to Cooks claims that the mall area was never a dump.  Besides, I went to all those dumps - including the mall area one - with my old man when I was young.

If they flood that area, all those toxins are going to contaminate the reservoir for who knows how long.  I know I certainly wouldn't want to drink the water.

The area which holds the Sports complex was still a dump in the when I moved here which was in the mid 60's and looked terrible.  Do they not think people can remember back that far or what? Maybe they think all those contaminates have dissipated by now.  The problem with that is who knows what may have been thrown in there.  Batteries (car), tires, TV's, paint, the possibilities are very good all of the above are in there plus more.  There were no restrictions back then that I remember.

Are you talking about the East side of the Bypass where Big Lots is or the West side North of 18th Street (Wendy's)?

That Sports complex which has the health club, chiropractor, eye doctor, and dentist offices. That was built in the 90's.  It's north of Wendy's and on the same side.

There was stuff still being dumped there just prior to that being built.  That entire area was WAY below road level.

They're seriously making that claim?  Aside from those dumps, who knows what is where that was left from decades of GM polluting the city.
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

Old man Cook, Virgil, always claimed the mall area was never a dump.  I knew the family and it didn't bother me to tell them it was a lie.

The family has money and IIRC most of it was made by the old man taking advantage of people's misfortune during the depression.  I think he was on the board or an owner/investor in the main bank in town.  He acquired massive amounts of land at theft prices and made fortunes farming it and selling it and using it for business.

Oh and by the way, out on Rangeline Road just North of the river is a junkyard that has been there as long as I can remember and the family has ties to city politics/government, and I can guarantee you that property is contaminated to the hilt.

Also GM had a couple of dump sites there on both sides of Rangeline.  One has been turned into some sort of nature preserve, IIRC.  That's on the West side, and on the East side rumor had it GM had illegally dumped all sort of toxic contaminants.

Damn, how does he expect to sell that anyway?  There are too many people who remember what was there.  Maybe he's senile.

I don't go to him now that I haven't lived in Anderson for years but I also went to him for years while I was in town and started when he was across the street adjacent to the old Phar-Mor store after a particularly rough skydiving parachute opening while I was wearing a camera on my helmet.  I remember seeing a sign on the side of a liquor store when Phar-Mor went out saying, "now honoring all Phar-Mor beer, wine and liquor prescriptions!"

Danny is a good massage therapist and a pretty good guitar player with whom I made music from time to time.

I was surprised the first time I went to Berger and he was there because I had only known him as a musician since he played in a couple of bands with some friends of mine.  I do miss him though since he always did the deep massage and the women there now are always afraid they're gonna hurt me, well that or they just don't have the strength in their hands he does.  Last time I ran into Dan he said he wasn't playing out anymore and was working on originals and recording them at home.
