First part true second sarcastic.  Now all this will come to pass if they don't come to some sort of agreement when it's that time again in about 2 weeks.  Personally I think, even though it would be a huge mistake and make things a whole lot worse, they should give Obama his way and let him sink with it.

This a perfect example of why I should stick to the "fun" threads.

Our leaders (read ALL of our leaders) need to get over being "right" and come to a consensus on what's best.

My only response is that the top 25% of the wage earners of this country pay 86% of all the federal income.  They also are the ones who give GENEROUSLY to charities.  They are the ones who supply jobs.  I don't HATE these guys at all...I think we need to encourage them to spend, instead of CONSTANTLY demonizing them and trying to get MORE and MORE from them...they already raised their taxes and a month later, they want MORE....we already have one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world.  Why not lower that rate for those business that are exclusively doing work HERE in the USA?

You know Hank, it's posts like this that make you out to be an 'educated idiot' and a scourge on our democracy.  You have some technical education and ability, but beyond that I'm really surprised you manage to keep breathing on your own.  Idiot participants in our representative democratic republic such as you are a goodly part of the basis for the corrupted country we have now.  You refuse to educate yourself and yet are SO full of yourself to think you have a clue as to what's going on, and what's worse you think you have the answers when you don't even see the problems.

A couple of graphs I've shown you and your ilk before:

http://www2.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/wealth.html

The top 20% own at least 89% of the net worth and 95% of the financial wealth of the U.S. as of 2010 - and it's only become worse since then.

1. That small percentage owns almost everything and yet YOU'RE carrying water for them and crying because, while they have the vast wealth with which to pay all the bills for this country, they're only paying 86% on a far smaller percentage of income tax per person than you, I, or the rest of us poor schmucks who make up the 80% of us bottom dwellers.

2. They don't 'give' to charities - we do, us bottom dwellers.  Their 'charitable contributions' are tax deductions for them - and that means us bottom dwellers have to make up for that loss of tax income...we are being forced to make those 'charitable contributions' for them while they not only reap the benefits but garner the 'prestige' to make themselves look like saints while they strip our pocketbooks.

3. They aren't really providing jobs - again as with 'charitable contributions' through the tax code, us bottom dwellers are providing those jobs and creating the wealth for them that they use to continue gaming the system in their favor...as if it's not already skewed to benefit them beyond belief.  Practically everything that is a cost is a tax deduction...which means bottom dwellers are again making up for that loss of tax income and subsidizing the creation and running of business - in essence, creating our own poor paying jobs AND the wealth of that top 20%.

4. What we have in this country and our capitalistic economy is - as I've repeatedly pointed out over the years - a new feudalism, capitalistic serfdom.  We still have the lords and the serfs - those that own and the rest of us surviving on the scraps.  Until we serfs shake off our chains and take back control of our government and our economy things will only get worse.

This broken system is what you continually push for and for breaking it even worse to get rid of any vestiges of a fair and equitable society.  That's the broken world you want to hand down to your children...and apparently you don't even care.

How can we come to any consensus when the inmates are running the asylum?

I hate to say it, but I really see America as an asylum with the crazies ruining us with their insanity.  There's no way to reason with them because they're crazy.  The internet allowed the crazies to know there were other crazies out there and they could spout their insanity where they could all flock to each other and make that incessant buzzing noize machine that feeds on fear and idiocy and creates more crazies.

That consensus is frightening because rational thought, human rights, facts, evidence, logic, science, nothing of any higher intellect that could drive us to productive consensus mean anything to the crazies.

I'm actually afraid for us.

Nope, you are wrong.  Not much more I can say, or will say other than your arrogance is so dominating that you are unable to understand some basic, common sense.  Typical of most liberals I know.  Since you want to fling insults, which is also, very characteristic of liberals.........you are nothing more than a better old man, whose life didn't go the way he believed it was going to go, because of the unrealistic approach you took in life.

Of course there's no more you can say because you don't see the issues, the problems, or the answers.  If you could, even in your inarticulate way, you would be able to present some iota of compelling evidence/fact or cogent argument either supporting your BS or invalidating mine.

But no, you pull the RC routine and whine.

I have indeed articulated my views on here, with links supporting my beliefs......but, it is just dismissed for reasons others on here do no wish to share, because it does not line up with their thoughts.

No, it's usually dismissed because it's the usual regurgitated BS you've been spoon fed by the RW noize machine or it's your typical ideological BS that you don't bother to think through.

In either case you can't blame anyone but yourself.

1. When you can't see the obvious - and very learnable - things I pointed out in my OP, I don't think those who actually educate themselves are going to take the idea that you have any 'common sense' seriously.

2. Why is it y'all seem to repeatedly find the truth insulting?  Maybe if y'all wouldn't be so lazy and educate yourselves, you wouldn't be so insulted when you're called on your ignorance and BS.
