CNN just reported that she's entered hospice care at her home.  Won't be long now.

Just saw that report myself. . . So it would appear the reaper is not yet done with the world's musicians and entertainers in 2018. . .

Aretha Franklin passed this morning at the age of 76.

So happy I got to see her the last time she went through central Indiana and stopped at Hoosier Park Casino.

She sang for Kings, Queens, and at least 3 US Presidents in command performances for each, and had the voice and range of an angel. A career that spanned decades and brought her 4 sons; teaching us all what R-E-S-P-E-C-T means along the way. Personally moving me to tears with her performances and the heartfelt emotion she put into them.

Another musical icon that has crossed over and left us a rich musical legacy to remember her by.

May your soul now rest in eternal peace Ms Franklin. The world is a richer place because of your work and lifetime, and a darker place with your departure. . .  :'(

How lucky you were to have seen and heard her in person! My introduction to her was the movie The Blues Brothers.  :smitten:

I feel that way too. It was karma that presented us with comped tickets for the show the same day, and we were treated to a soul moving show by a legend, just blocks from our own home. When we left the show that night I felt as if I had been through a religious epiphany. So thankful to have been able to see her.

This is so damned sad. . .  :'(

A man that served his country throughout his life, thrown to the junk heap by his party and colleagues over their political idiocy in aligning themselves with bullies, thieves, and outright morons.

I may not have supported his presidential candidacy, but I absolutely respect his service and sacrifices made on behalf of this formerly great nation; and spit in the faces of those who have abandoned him in yet another great time of personal need as he nears the crossing over point.

May his place within the ether be far greater than the level of personal sacrifices he made within his time here on behalf of the people of this nation. And may we one day return to the morally high ground he always attempted to lead us toward in his time here.

Whether I agreed with him or not, I do believe he always supported and did what he believed to be the right thing for the majority of this nation, and I can find no fault within it; rather, honor far greater than that possessed within those currently charged with the very same responsibilities.

Fair winds and following seas Senator McCain. This nation is a far lesser place with your passing, but a far greater place for the work you did while you were here.
