This made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. (Okay, and my eyes were leaking too).

Written and recorded well before she was sick, which makes it all the more surreal:

That's the young woman I wrote about here about a month ago after hearing her sing on the Gaithers -- the entire hour was hers -- she had a beautiful voice.  :(

My wife and I have followed them since we heard she was sick and became fans of them.

Very sad....but very inspirational of their faith and courage.

That song will jerk your heart right out of your chest.

I actually thought she sang better than her husband but maybe it was just me on that. Her songs were always sang with such passion and emotion.

I thought so, which is why I posted about there passing here. I knew they had a lot of national coverage of their story since she was sick.

Sad. . . Just heartbreaking in a lot of ways for a lot of people.

Me, too... something about the timbre of her voice ....  I also heard about her passing on the news this morning -- I think CBS -- as I was scrolling through. She was described as a young country music singer.  I imagine the Gaithers will feature the recording again tonight (they come on at 7 PM EST here. That must have been what I saw/heard. Since I knew nothing about her, I assumed it was live.

Jeezus Peezus guys and gals!

I don't know why it is that even people I consider sane are so quick to mythologize some people when they pass.

1.  Just like most 'entertainers', neither Joey nor Rory wrote that song: Sandy Lawrence wrote the poignant tune as a way of dealing with her own emotions as she was caring for her dying mother.  It was a song chosen to put on record because they thought it would sell.  Songs are commodities in the business and to those business 'entertainers'.

2. The music business in general is just that - a business.  Most choices and decisions are monetary based - not creative or emotional.  So why mythologize something - or someone - that is all about the money?  The songs are deliberately written to manipulate peoples emotions because that equates to sales - money.

3.  This whole affair was played out in the social media etc. because it sells.  And from the looks of things in the media and here, it still continues to work in this day and age even on intelligent people.

She's from around here, and I knew of her and musicians who worked with her.  Same with the Gaithers she was tied in to.
