Sad, sad day!

I agree.....how anybody can watch BB and NOT be entertained is unimaginable.  Sad day!

I am sure he and Lucille will always be remembered!! I was going to go to B.B. Kings in Memphis last summer but didn't get a chance.

BB's passing drove Eric Clapton to crack open the door to his private life this morning and post a short personal statement from his own laptop. No musical tribute (yet) but instead an absurdly rare personal expression. And one in which you can see his struggle with the emotion.

I'd seen and met BB on several occasions and even have numerous signed artifacts which are now certainly going to be mounted and displayed.

My favorite BB story - I have a few - doesn't even involve meeting him, but has to do with his influence on me picking up lead guitar and my love for the blues.

When I was living in FL back in the late 60's and early 70's, I was working in a warehouse chopping the shells off of coconuts.  We always had a radio on to pass the time while we worked, and BB's 'The Thrill is Gone' came on the radio.  This was back when the song was first released.  I was utterly mesmerized.  I stopped what I was doing, and walked over to the radio and just stood there with my mouth agape.  I'd never heard ANYTHING like that before in my life, and though I already played folk guitar, I couldn't believe what he was doing and the sound he was getting from his guitar.  I listened until the song was over and then went back to shelling them ole' coconuts, but after hearing that I bought a cheap knock off of BB's Gibson guitar and an amp and I was on my way to being a bluezoholic!

I owe a lot to BB!  Have a good one playing in the Great Beyond Band, B!

Law of Logical Argument - Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about.  ;)

"You've probably noticed that opinion pollsters go out of their way to include as many morons as possible in surveys ... I think it's dangerous to inform morons about what their fellow morons are thinking. It only reinforces their opinions. And the one thing worse than a moron with an opinion is lots of them." -- Scott Adams

In other words: Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  ;)

"It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it." -- Upton Sinclair

"Hitler is gone, but if the majority of our fellow citizens are more susceptible to the slogans of fear and race hatred than to those of peaceful accommodation and mutual respect among human beings, our political liberties remain at the mercy of any eloquent and unscrupulous demagogue." -- S. I. Hayakawa
