My guess is Mr. Cocker and Mr. Bruce are currently discussing Mr. Baker's behaviors. . .  :icon_twisted:

Sad to hear of Joe Cocker's crossing over, but I dare say that "Woodstock" is taking shape in whatever comes after this life. . .

Cocker's Woodstock performance was the first to confuse the hell out of me; I was unsure whether he had a physical ailment that caused his contortions, or if he was just wired differently. . . Took me a while to figure out it was the latter of the two.

I saw him well before my young ears and mind became attuned to the blues, and once they did he was an artist I revisited with a whole lot more enthusiasm for his work.

We keep losing these men and women responsible for the soundtracks of our lives. I can only hope they precede us in order to compose the soundtracks for what comes next. . .

Music affects me in strange ways sometimes. No pattern.  I have cable TV and they offer a large selection of music of all kinds, by category. On Sunday morning I was reading the paper and getting ready to watch the news, but could not stand the thought of more of  the same, over and over, so went to the music section. Intended to listen to something calming, like light classical or Christmas music, but kept moving until I heard a voice that gave me goose bumps.  And then, as I listened, I had the urge to get up and move -- and that is totally not like me. But "dance" I did, all kinds of movements, no thought, just moving, until the music stopped, and so did I.  What was I listening to? The Fabulous Thunderbirds, High Water.  (Good thing I was alone.)

;D I had to laugh, because that is exactly how I was the first few times I saw him.  I used to love to watch John Belushi tribute him...HE had him down, spot on.

a little fyi,

His real name was John Robert Cocker.  Cocker was not a stage name.  Joe was the stage name, and he was named Joe off a childhood game he played when he was growing up called Cowboy Joe, and he was proficient at the game, so he got the name Joe, and his name was already Cocker.  His first stage name was Vance Arnold, and his band was Vance Arnold and the Avengers. But the name Vance Arnold was a combination of Vince Everett -- that was Elvis Presley's character in Jailhouse Rock.  And Cocker thought it was Vance, not Vince, so that's where the Vance comes from.  And he loved Eddy Arnold, country singer Eddy Arnold, so he combined Vance and Arnold to get his stage name.

Never ceases to amaze me too.

In the suburban Chicago town I grew up in, the commuter trains were and are THE way to get to your downtown destinations. Tens of thousands of people ride them each and every day to and from work. And every year a number of those riders are struck and killed by the very trains they have ridden for years.

One ironically popular stop is located right across the road from a Trauma Center. Not one of these people hit at that location have survived in the decades they've been getting hit at that stop. Not one. . .

Here's a graphic created as part of a metro Chicago investigative reporters series on just this subject. (Covers the period of 2004 to 2012)
