They're teachers, not miracle workers.  You can't expect them to turn dumb kids into geniuses; all they have to work with is the raw materials that you provide.

Is that why you haven't gotten one in so long?

The school system sorta works like a computer.  Garbage in garbage out.  The kids have to have some brains and desire.  Do you think that is what happened to "ME", poor school teachers.  Hummmm?     :grin2:

Hate to say this Troll but I'm not the one who has a problem constructing sentences,  and spelling here.  You are let slide because you're the same political persuasion as they happen to be and are always agreeing with them.  Try disagreeing for a length of time and see how quickly they quit letting you slide on your grammar and spelling.

So you're saying Chicago is chock full of dumb kids?  Wow, what a bold statement to make about the Presidents home state.  Wonder why he didn't try to do something about that while he was busy organizing.

So I might not be good at construction of a sentence, but I can write well enough to get under your skin.     Right Baby Doll?  But spelling I know I do better than you.  I check my spelling each and every post, every time.  Baby Doll you don't.

No, it's full of irresponsible parents who don't give a flying rats ass about their children; and the one's that do cannot spend the quality time they need to with their children because they're both holding down either a job that requires 60+ hours of their time every week, or working a second job, or both, just to make ends meet around there.

I know what I am talking about since I hail from the greater Chicagoland area, spent the lion's share of my life calling that place home, and currently have 3 children living there along with 2 grandchildren, and a host of extended family members. So yeah, I do have a dog in the hunt there, and I say bully for the teachers in this case.

You do realize that real estate taxes in that area of the state would amount to 6-8 times what those of us pay in the state of Indiana don't you? And they do not enjoy the 1% tax cap that people in Indiana do, so their taxes go up all of the time.  Not to mention a 9% sales tax on food and all other goods one buys. (More in the downtown districts). And the state of Illinois taxes the hell out of your income as well in comparison to Indiana. So that 76k would equate to about 30k in Indiana dollars, roughly.

I recall being taught by teachers throughout grade school and high school, that had to work at local grocery and retail stores in addition to their teaching jobs growing up. They never got paid enough for what they have to deal with, in their personal and professional lives, in that state. And what they have to deal with in the schools is enough to turn your hair white and keep you up at night.

They may be the second highest paid in the nation, but they earn every red-cent of it and then some.

Get some perspective before you go trashing teachers. Anywhere.

As an interjection here, teachers in most areas are under compensated for the very important and valuable service they provide.  Our collective future depends on them in a larger measure than most people stop and think about.

No, I use spell check every time and if that doesn't sound right I ask my wife who is an excellent speller and if she doesn't know I have a dictionary right here on my computer desk.  Use your spell check, Honey Bee.

A teacher with a master's degree, 30 additional credit hours, and ten years of experience, can expect to earn $87,513 in Evanston this year; last year, in Oak Park, a teacher would have made $88,978. In Chicago this year, the same teacher will earn $75,711 — about $12,000 a year less.

I too agree, I just despise the teachers unions, I think too many are putting their own self interests ahead of the children.  I'm also saying not all who belong to the union are bad teachers, but there ARE teachers who should NOT be teaching, but they are there because of the pay and NOT the children.

Oh, yeah, because teachers make so much money compared to people with masters' degrees in other professions; right?

Put down the crack pipe.

Ass hole you despise all unions, why, I don't know.  I know they never did anything bad to you Henry.  It hard to tell where SCABs come up with their stupid ideas.  I could think that a lot of your problem Henry, with you and unions is that you are jealous and because you don't make as much money as you should.

What really bothers you is you know with the education you have in your skilled trade, you would be making a lot more money if you were a union member.  But you're stuck in that SCAB SHOP and ass kissing is the only way to receive a raise in pay.  Knowing that you don't have a contract with your company and they can fire you for not reason.  Fire you without a hearing and have security escort you ass out the door.    Just think your whole life revolves around kissing ass and brown nosing just because you're a SCAB.  :kissit:  Henry.  :haha:   Boy would I love to be a Low Pay White Shirt SCAB.  :haha:  Boy O Boy do I love my UAW.   :smitten:

Henry Hawk

Troll, I just think they are a greedy, crooked organization, who are not looking out for the best interests for America and its citizens....they want power.  Sure at one time, many unions were good and had a noble cause....I just don't see it anymore.  They are "ruining" this nation.

I am very happy to be employed by a gracious American.  I have been here for over 11 years, and I enjoy my job.  What more could I want.  If he was forced to pay MORE money, when the money is not there, then I, along with others, NOT have a job, that I enjoy.  It is THAT simple.
