I'm still not understanding just what the hell the connection is between black liquor and the Healthcare Reform Act / Affordable Care Act.

After over a decade in the paper making industry I know full well what black liquor itself is and what it is used for. . . I fail to understand how, even with the most tendon snapping stretch possible, there is any connection between it and the healthcare law. . . 

Problem is, from an ecological standpoint, using TP to do the dirty work is not good for the environment. It kills trees, (not at the level producing an SBS sheet does, and in fact it does involve a measure of recycled fiber in most formulations, however virgin fibers are necessary to incorporate strength into the sheet being produced, lest you end up with poopie finger), uses a LOT of water, and can contribute to pollution of the water tables in those areas where less than admirable water management/treatment initiatives are undertaken.

Then there's the energy consumption producing those cotton-colored rolls of skid mark sheets induces. Most paper making requires a lot of electricity, water, and energy to provide us with the items we use every day, and many of the companies that produce them are far ahead of the curve when it comes to energy conservation.

One of the by products of this process, regardless of whether you are making folding carton stock or ass wipe, is black liquor, and the industry long ago figured out how to utilize it to fuel turbines to produce their own electricity.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida Gov. Rick Scott is saying Florida will do nothing to comply with President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.

Scott recently said he would follow the law if it were upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. But he went on national television on Friday night and said Florida will not take any steps to help carry out the overhaul.

Scott said on Fox News that the state would not expand the Medicaid program in order to lower the number of uninsured residents. The governor also said that Florida would not set up a state-run health exchange, or a marketplace where people needing insurance policies could shop for them.

The governor said that expanding eligibility of Medicaid to those just above the poverty level would not help the citizens of Florida.
