It is miserably hot here today -- close to 100 the last I heard -- and has been so for days, BUT I hate to complain because not too far away in Maryland, an apartment complex exploded yesterday.  The last I heard they have recovered 4 bodies and there are others still not accounted for. Reports are that at least one person complained to the gas company recently about smelling gas.

I saw that. I complain about the heat and especially when our humidity and heat index are higher than our temps.but then you see something like that or our soldiers in there gear and you realize you have nothing to complain about.

The Washington Post weather forecast for us today is not good: heavy rain, possible flooding locally, maybe hail. That's after about 7 days of temperature over 95, and a big storm yesterday evening -- about dark. Big boom thunder and lightening with lights flickering, but we didn't lose power.

I remember the first time I went to Florida -- by train. It stopped somewhere in Georgia, and when I got off to stretch my legs, thought I couldn't breathe because of the heat and humidity. At least it prepared me for Florida -- I lived in Jacksonville for about a year, same thing. Took two showers a day if I stayed outside for more than a few minutes.

However, now that I think of it, I went back to Jacksonville several years ago to visit a friend, and the heat and humidity didn't bother me all that much, so seems I have acclimated (July and August here in the D.C. metro area will do that -- the heat and humidity plus gas fumes from heavy traffic -- ).

Kind of scary I think. The cars didn't even move and the restaurant the video was taken at didn't seem to be damaged. This was the first tornado that went through Kokomo.
