Wonderful story, PH.  I'm glad you could help him out.

Good story PH.  Thanks for doing and sharing.  We all should do more like what you did.

Way to go PH!! What a great thing you did and it gives a person a wonderful feeling inside to know they helped someone.

Yes it does, but it also illustrates how short we fall as a nation in making sure our veterans have easy access to the things they need and have earned via their service.

That's a huge hot button for me personally, and I'm just glad I was able to help a veteran out in his/her time of need. Our nation may not be so forthcoming, but I will do anything I can for them. . . And I am thankful to have some well placed, long time friends within the system that are so ready and willing to help me help them.

The system makes it very hard for them sometimes. My friends are the good guys in this as they cleared the BS off the deck in an expedited manner and in the 30 minutes it took me to get him there, they were ready for him.

I just gave him a few bucks, bought him a cup of coffee and gave him a ride. The least I could do for any veteran. . .

It's a shame there aren't more people like you in the world.

There are. I know of at least a dozen in this state personally, and another one currently deployed for his final duty before his retirement from the USN. (That one is exactly like me. He's my son.)  :smitten:

Agreed. My husband and I try to help veteran's out as much as possible. It comes from him having served in the Air Force for a few short years and I have an interest in helping all veteran's get the aid and assistance they need.
I think what you did was great as many people would have walked by and not have helped at all.
Thank your son for his service. I have a very good friend who is a retired Lt. Commander from the  Navy.

Truthfully though, I will sleep better tonight knowing this man is warm and fed and getting the care  he so desperately needed.

Once I knew he was a veteran it was clear to me that I had to get him out of the approaching weather and help him out. "No one left behind"; it doesn't end once you leave the operational theatre. Especially not within a military family.

Looks like I've come full circle.

Went to my Myspace account just out of curiosity tonight since I hadn't been there for about 5yrs and it has turned into a music/social site. I had put some videos of hubby's nephew's old band as well as my grandson's band and some others on there and they were gone except for one video of a friends band. Most of my pics were still there though so I copied them.

Finally got all my prep cooking done for tomorrow, finished cleaning up the kitchen, and got things set up for the buffet style meal since we don't have a table large enough to seat 20 people. I'm still full from going to my daughters Thur. but I'm sure I'll find room for food tomorrow.  What's great is hubby's sister and BIL will be here this year along with his girls, grandkids, and one great granddaughter. Our family just keeps getting larger.  :smitten:
