13 degrees here in my neck of the woods; going down to 1 before sunrise sometime. Possibly lower.

High tomorrow is not much better.

I love  :snowbl: , but all this  :cold: sucks the southbound end of a northbound jackass.

Too damned cold to snow!

Candy making will begin on Sunday to take with us on Christmas Day. Chocolate fudge and peanut butter fudge and I have found both do well when the temp is 32 and below.

I wish who ever thought up those flow restrictors for shower heads and aerators had them crammed, well you know where.

Some of those restrictors can be  popped out with a small rod or nail.     On one I had, I took a drill and made the hole bigger.

Who ever the dumbass was, that dreamed these things up, (a lawyer) thinks you save water is crazy.  It just take longer to take a shower using the same amount of water.

60 degrees here and then the weather takes a nose dive. 23 tomorrow with a chance of a wintry mix.
I hate winter. I hate snow. I hate ice. I hate cold weather!!

This is interesting.  Considering I had to scrape ice off the windshield yesterday, I might have to give this a try.  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/defrost-windshield-trick-ken-weathers_us_56941310e4b0cad15e65cba5?

Has anyone every tried this?

It works as long as the ice isn't super thick. For frost it is the bomb.

Just make sure you use enough Alcohol to keep the water from freezing, and DO NOT SMOKE while using it!

DO NOT use hot water as that will cause your windshield to crack!

I don't smoke, never did, so that's not a problem!

Does it help at all with thick ice?  Does it thin it at all?

Depends on the alcohol content. But when it gets thick it tends to take a lot of spraying to clear the ice. Comparable to scraping only putting all the stress onto your trigger finger.

A better solution is to cover the windshield with a sheet or large piece of cardboard overnight, but you have to figure out how to strap it down so it doesn't blow off.  A few large bungee cords (cheap ones that are weaker) can typically be hooked to the mirrors or wind channels on some models. Get the plastic hooked ones to minimize the potential for scratching of the paint. They'll bust in seriously cold weather if you're not careful, but you have to measure the benefit/cost surrounding whether it is worth your while to do so.

Cardboard is cheap and if the ice is super thick you just trash it, no scraping.  8)

Interesting.  I don't know if I'll go to all the work with the cardboard, but I do want to try out the spray method.  Now I need to run to Target and get a sprayer!
