So sad. And shows that guns don't always kill. 9-11 was done with planes, we have had pipe bombs and now a truck.

Have a neighbor with a developmentally disabled adult aged child.

My doorbell rang at 8:30 this morning and I answered to find him at the door and in tears. He told me, "My mom and dad are out of town and my and my dog can't get back into the house. There are keys in the truck but it is locked. Its hot out here and I cannot get in."

I walked over to assess the situation and sure enough everything he said was true. So we went around and I began looking at the windows; of course all of them were locked. . . . Except for two directly behind the bed headboard .

I popped off the screen and then he could not climb in so I did, and after snaking my way out from behind the bed headboard, went over to the slider doors and let him in.

Poor guy. I told him not to forget his little dog tied up out front. He was so relieved. . .

Good for you, PH. Your story made me think of something I encountered this morning -- although I was not able to help:

I drove to the bank I use in the shopping center near my home to check my near the end of the month balance, and as I got out of my car, heard a loud sound, which made me think of an Indian battle cry or something related. It was coming from a townhouse area which backs up close to the shopping center. Then I heard the sound again and thought maybe it was some kids playing war or something. Went inside my bank, came out a few minutes later, and there was that sound; this time I saw a young black man, clean-looking, well dressed, short hair, and the sound was coming from him. He was just steps away, facing me. And I realized the sound was one of anguish. I walked towards him, stopped a few feet away, and said, "Are you OK?" He didn't answer or seem to notice me. Walked past me, maybe a foot of space between us, and cried out again. I turned and followed him a foot or so behind, said, "Do you need money?" No response from him. He just kept walking.  I got in my car, slowly drove away, as he continued to walk farther across the parking lot. I wanted so much to do something before somebody called the police and who knows what would have happened. Then I thought about a huge church just across the street which operates a school and always seems to be open. Wondered if they'd help somebody like that. But by then he was out of my sight across the big parking lot, and I was sick at heart.

Got some of the spirit of Mother Theresa in me.   :'( :(
