A few days ago I went to Barnes and Noble to find a book for a friend, and as usual had trouble getting out of there without buying one or more for myself. It's a big store with a coffee shop on one side, soft music, and more people wandering and looking or sitting and sipping and reading than you would imagine. I was walking slowly and looking at titles when I heard a sound, kinda like tuneless humming, and looked up to see, right in front of me, a smiling young man with the look of retardation on his face, walking beside a pleasant looking woman. And behind them were about eight others; all looked about the same age, with that same happy smile. Each had a hand on the shoulder of the person in front. The last person was a little skinny man who looked much older. I couldn't see his face, because he was bent over at the waist. Another smiling lady brought up the rear. I just stood there smiling back at them, and for an instant I had the feeling that I was in a movie.

My #2 son, is now part of the United States Navy.  He has enlisted.  He finished with a 91 on his test and has his pick on his job placement.  He heads for Great Lakes Illinois for boot camp later this fall, then has one-year of classes, before he disembarks on his career for at least the next five years.

This is something he has been thinking about for a few years now. He has been in and out of school, working different jobs and finally decided that he is ready to take this path.

He is a great young man and I am extremely proud of him.

Good luck to him. My son was in the USN for 8 years. It was very good for him and his family. The only downside was being gone from his family for long periods of time. What type of work will your son be doing? Mine was on the USSS Maryland. Did his basic and school in Orlando.

Hat's off to your son for his service!!

My grandson said they had an earthquake in Alaska yesterday. Rattled stuff in his apt but nothing fell. He said it was a wild ride and they were still feeling aftershocks over an hour later.

I've never had bison. How does it compare to venison tastewise?

Thanks! I guess I should try it. I've seen it in the grocery store, but it was very pricey.

I love venison too but I think bison is a little better. That may be the difference between tame and wild meat though. I've only had venison either my daughter or son-in-law have shot and had processed. It was excellent though.

We check the date then go when they run a manager special then I bring it home and either make it into patties or leave it in lbs for chile or spagetti and stick it in the freezer. It's still a little pricey compared to hamburger but much better and better for you too.

Good tips! And I had heard that is was better for you, which begs the question - why is eating healthy so damned expensive?

I've noticed too that you get less meat per lb because they inject more water and also less content in cans because there is more liquid. But I guess they need to so something or the price would be even higher.

It tastes like old milked out Holstein cow (grade A) that has never ate anything but grass.     No corn,  no grain just grass.  Sure not worth the money.  :trustme:
