I lived in Jacksonville for about a year, and it seemed like I spent most of that time fighting the bugs.  That's when I learned you could buy floor wax with insect repellent. It seemed like those big roaches were everywhere  At first I didn't know what they were. Had never seen one. Somebody with a sense of humor told me they were June Bugs. In the hospital where my son was born (NAS),  I had a really nice room, but when the aide brought me my breakfast the next morning and removed the cover, there was a big roach crawling across the food. She flipped it off without a word, and left. And I was so hungry that I ate everything.

It's the same way in Texas by the gulf.  You can't get away from them and they are huge.

  Beats me. This time last year I was seeing my doctor because I picked up a really bad bug and spent Thanksgiving alone, because I didn't want to give it to anyone else. And all that has happened since then? :dizzy2: I have got to do some catching up!

We are back from our cruise, a gift from our son and an extension of our 50th anniversary celebration. We had a great time with extended family.  :)

That's excellent Anne.  Congrats on the 50th and the good times!  What were the ports of call on the cruise?

Thanks everyone. It was a short cruise, four days, we were at Freeport and Nassau with one full day at sea. Our son and his wife, our daughter, five of the grandchildren, one great granddaughter, two cousins and our son's mother in law all came. We all had a great time, played the games, some did karaoke, played mini golf and ate and ate and ate. Grandson number 4 found out he likes alligator fritters and number 5 likes oysters on the half shell. After the cruise we went home with our cousins to Ft. Myers for a few days and saw a few more cousins. Altogether a great time.

Cast iron dutch oven in the oven full of homemade beef stew. Sure is makin' the house smell good. Just hopin' it tastes as good as it smells.  Don't know what I'd do without my cast iron.  :smitten:
