Hey Bo D!

Been kind of quite for a couple of weeks....have you been vacationing?

Sort of ... let me give y'all some advice. Before you die, get with your children and give them everything of importance. Then get rid of everything else. Don't make your kids have to go through cleaning out your house after you die.

Excellent advice. I hope everybody's still speaking to each other. When my mother passed away, two of my sisters disagreed about who should get what. I never dreamed that could happen to us.

When I mentioned it to a psychologist friend, he said, "People grieve in different ways."

Oh hell. . . Unfortunately I had to go through this twice. It sucks, it tears families apart, and can start the grieving process all over again. . .

I chose NOT to fight my family in the case of the estates of my parents. I took one item of my fathers that carried the deepest and best memories of him for me, and then just became a robot; carrying out things to the various piles; none of which were mine.

I don't regret it, but I do regret that my parents chose not to consider my advice and leave everything to their children to figure out. . .

In hindsight I suppose they did that because of all the legal wrangling the trust estates of their parents resulted in. It still sucks though.

My deepest sympathies are with you and your family over what you have had to deal with. It is very hard to lose a parent, and emotionally harder to deal with the animosity and chaos that results. . .  :'(

Clearly Cheating

A man cheats on his girlfriend named Lorraine with a girl named Clearly.

Suddenly, Lorraine died.

At the funeral, the man stands up and sings, "I can see Clearly now, Lorraine is gone."

Thanks, my friends! But trust me on this. My brothers and I are closer than ever. All the major stuff was covered in the will. It's all the little stuff that made it difficult. Not because of any animosity or chaos among us boys, but because we had to go through all the mountains of stuff that a person naturally accumulates over a lifetime and decide what was junk and what was treasure.

My MIL has accumulated so much "Crap" (for a lack of a better term) over her 90 plus years...it is going to be an event to get rid of it all .... but, she is still kicking and doing well, and it makes her happy to have her "stuff".  I guess we will just deal with it when that time comes.

Glad that you and your brother still have a great relationship, that makes it much easier when you have to go through something like that.

One of my hero's in this life was Walter Payton.......he would have been 59 years old today.  He died 14 years ago.   :'(

He is indeed a man whom I admired deeply.  He was a great man on and off the field.  He was the epitome of what an athlete should be. His son Jarrett is turning out to be quite a man too.

The year Walter died was only a few weeks after my Mom died...........and then a couple of weeks after he died, my dog, Sammy died.  It was a horrible year for me.
