Baby Dexter just jumped out of the cat tree, and I think he may have hurt himself pretty bad. He's my kitten that only has three legs. I'm scared to death that he may have broken his leg. His right back leg has to support the total weight of his tailend, and of course that's the one he landed on. He was on the top ledge of the tree, so he jumped 6 feet, and landed very hard. Normally, he cries when he wants down. I usually help him down. I was sitting right here, and heard a thud.  God, I hope it isn't broken. That damn tree is coming down right now!!!  We'll probaby go to the vet's in the morning. Poor little guy.... he tries to do everything like the other cats. He doesn't realize he has limited abilities.  :'( :'( :'(

Edited to add..... that damn tree is down now!!!

I hope so. Poor lil' guy - he just wants to be like the other cats. I admire his determination.

Well, luckily he's OK. I was worried sick about him last night. He couldn't seem to keep  his balance. He just wanted to be held and cuddled. I think he was in some pain. I held him for about 2 hours, and we went to bed. I set my clock to get up early so, I could check him ,and see if he needed to go to the vet's. He's fine now. He's got his balance back, and was playin' with one of the other cats. It was real scary, and a bunch of thoughts went through my mind. It he shatters his hip or leg, it might have to be amputated. Then a HUGE decision would have to be made as in.... do we go forward, or have him euthanized? What quality of life would he have, if he had to have a cart to push himself around? Horrible decision to have to make. I always try to do what is in the best interest of all of my pets. We've decided to buy some small cat trees, that he wont get hurt jumping off of. He loves climbing even though it takes  him some serious effort. He's a very strong little guy, and his Mama loves him dearly.  :smitten:

Glad he's ok.  Probably just knocked the breath out of him and scared him.

I think you're right. I think he might have kind of strained his leg a little. Like when we jump from something high up, and land with a little extra force, and kind of jar ourselves.

Well I'll be danged.  A plow just went down the road.... Would have been nice if he would do both lanes instead  of just one and go slow enough to really do some good.  He went past like he was practicin' for the race track when racing season starts.

I was actually shocked that a plow came by my house this morning at about 4:00. We never get any of that out here. If he hadn't plowed it they probably would have had to close the road.

I was up until 5:00 this morning with a dying cat. One of my 4 year old tom's, that was born in the house, and converted to the outside, had pneumonia. I had been givin' him antibiotics, and it just didn't help.  :'( This type of thing really drains me emotionally, and physically. I'm glad it snowed so, I didn't ave to go to work. I just feel like crap today.

That type of thing is always very hard on me. In some ways it's similar to losing a child... in a small minute way.  It isn't nearly the same but, when you don't have children, they become your children in a way. It was just a bad night. He drug on for hours, and it was like a blizzard out so, I couldn't take him in to be euthanized.  Normally, I would have called the vet but, during a blizzard it isn't safe for either party to be out on bad roads. So, I just did the best I could with him.  I'll miss him he was a very good cat.  :smitten:

This day we witnessed history as it happened. This day millions rejoiced at the prospects of hope and change. And this day millions of us fail to understand that the greatness that is to be achieved via the dawning of the new world order, will never be seen by the majority of us; but read about by our great grandchildren. Relegated to the tales of historians written down years later, and assembled with records to tell the tale.

We have focused this day on what we have come from and what this day represents as it relates to an achievement. But what have we really achieved? The majority of us will never know in this world today, but those that follow us will know something of it. What that something is strongly depends upon how tomorrow, next week, next year, and the next few decades are documented. Will it be an objective record, including the perspectives of the common man and woman, or yet another version of the tale of Camelot revisited. Perhaps even an assembly of straight facts that are supported by the official records, with a heavy sprinkling of literary license taken up to make the whole thing more inspiring and pallatable to the common man or woman?

Whatever it is you can bet it will miss the mark it needs to hit. And we will be doomed to repeat any mistakes again. . . This day.
