she was only a little over a year old.  I still have her brother and her mama though.  She had 4 babies in April and I still have them too.  But I always hate it when I lose one of my babies.

I'm soooooo sorry Smokeykat.  It's horrible when we lose a pet. It's like losing a part of the family. I lost 2 kittens last night. We've got something going around outside, and we've lost 6 kittens in the past 2 weeks. I'm not sure what's going on, but it's taking them FAST. They don't show any sign of sickness. They just die.  I know they haven't been poisoned because, they're too little to go anywhere. So, I'm not sure what's going on. Is your kitty that passed the same one you asked about last week? There may be something going around.

yes it was the same one.  She had lost so much weight that her kittens weighed more than she did.  I had mixed her up some baby food with kitten formula and was feeding her with an eye dropper, but I was too late.   She died early this morning.  Hubby and I buried her out under the tree by the fence.

Sometimes it doesn't matter how hard we try to save them, it just doesn't work. I've spent many hours holding dying kittens that their mama's abandon. I try to comfort them as much as possible, so they don't die alone. Most of the time you can tell which ones you can save, and which ones you can't.  I always bundle them up in a towel, rock them in the rocking chair, and sing to them. Little kittens love to be sung to. There's only so many we can save Smokeykat. We just do our best.
