I remember when my daughter was about 3 or so and I had just gotten back from the grocery story and I dropped my keys in my big purse so that I could get her out of the car seat w/out dropping them. She was standing beside me while I got the groceries out of the trunk and I was distracted or preoccupied, but I didn't notice her little fingers when I slammed the trunk door shot. OMG! The howl she let out was the scariest thing I ever heard. I dropped the groceries and couldn't put my fingers on my keys in my purse, so I dumped it too. I was shaking so bad that I thought I wouldn't be able to unlock the trunk. I got it open and her little fingers were red and the skin was dented. I put some ice on them and they didn't even bruise. I guess because she was so little and had pudgy little toddler hands the fat protected her from serious injury. I have NEVER felt like such a heal in my life. She cried and I cried.

Well, I've got that little kitten back. The one that the mama came ,and got the other day. I kept seeing her out in the yard all day long, and figured she had probably taken it somewhere ,and forgotten about it. I kept looking everywhere for it, and couldn't find it. Last night, I decided to look somewhere I hadn't checked. I went out behind our shed, and started calling it. I thought I heard a kitten crying, then I thought I was hearing things.  Of course, all of the other cats were standing around meowing, so it was hard to tell. Finally, I heard a weak, pathetic meow coming from under the canoe. I flipped it over, and sure enough....there was the kitten.    It was sooooo happy to see me. It wagged its little tail. Its eyes were sealed over with muck, and I wondered how long it had been since it ate?  I took it in, cleaned its face off, medicated its eyes,and it drank formula like there was no tommorrow. It wanted to be held more than anything. It loves to be loved up. I was up with it most of the night last night,and didn't end up getting up until almost noon.  I've got its carrier right here by the computer, and it's stirring around, and I think trying to wake up. It won't be long, and it will be time for another bottle.

kimmi, i'm glad i am my sister's rock right now.  it helps me feel better knowing i am offering her some kind of support.

dex:  she's having her tubes tied after this baby.  (she had planned to after his birth--from the very beginning.)  no she's determined not to go through it ever again.  she's got two beautiful daughters.

kimmi, i'm glad i am my sister's rock right now.  it helps me feel better knowing i am offering her some kind of support.

dex:  she's having her tubes tied after this baby.  (she had planned to after his birth--from the very beginning.)  no she's determined not to go through it ever again.  she's got two beautiful daughters.

I don't blame her. We don't have any children, and when we lost ours, we never wanted to go through it again. The doctor told us we would probably have the same results if we tried again, and to us it wasn't worth the pain. I can still get pregnant, but it's highly unlikely I could carry the baby to term. I figure my critters are a sure bet... so I'm goin' with that LOL!!! I know it's not the same... but it's what I've been dealt, and somebody has to be a Mama to the critters. It would be sensless to go through life bitter about what might have been, so I happily play the hand I've been dealt.  I'm glad your sister has her beautiful daughters. She has a lot IMO. Family that loves her, a very good support system, and her daughters are her future. She has their future to look forward to. She'll be a Grandmother one of these days.
