And Gingrich just said if we were serious, we would open up enough oil fields over the next 4 years that the price of oil worldwide would collapse.   People obviously applauded.  I guess facts be damned when a politician is telling you what you want to hear.

You know, deep down inside I really wish that they'd just let them "drill baby, drill, and spill baby, spill". That way in 2016 when we deplete ALL of the natural reserves owned by this country, I can gloat and say "I told you so"!

These republicans are in serious need of some shock and thorazine therapy!

Exactly.  But I guess all of the people applauding in the audience are ignorant of the fact that this country lacks the reserves to have that sort of effect on global oil prices despite how fast it can be pumped out of the ground.

talk about wanting the country to fail for political gain......DANG PH...that is pretty outrageous!....

we NEED to be drilling WITH saftey measures......we should NOT be drilling out in the middle of the ocean...that is where we had our last problem.....if we drilled in shallow waters we can stop that quickly.

If there is NO market for oil here, then it will never happen......but why don't we let the free market decide?....I'm tired of paying $3 plus a gallon.

Hate to tell you HH, but regardless of how much drilling we do domestically, you're not going to see cheap gas ever again.  It's just not going to happen.  That's why the continuous "drill here, drill now, pay less" mantra that is ballyhooed about all the time is simply a lie.

They're nothing more than sheep! Too lazy to even do the slightest research on the subject, they lap up every single bit of propaganda being spoon fed them.

I'd be laughing my ass off if it weren't so damned scary!

20 minutes of research will provide more than enough scientific proof, from highly credible sources, to demonstrate that the republican party line surrounding oil, the US reserves, and the supposed impact of extracting it, are nothing short of bald faced lies!

For clarification, I put the "spill baby, spill" into my post for shock and awe. The main point is that extracting it in the way the republican / conservative perspective has been endorsing for 4 years now, (they started before the POTUS was even elected if you will recall), puts this country on the FAST TRACK to depletion inside of 4 years, (by the learned estimations of the very best geological, and gas/oil industry experts).

Drill baby, drill! And by 2016 you'll be paying $30/US Gal for that gasoline! And ALL of it will be imported because there won't be a drop left within US possession.

(BY the way, I've been paying between $3.50 and $4.50 a gallon for diesel for 8 years now. Try paying that kind of coin for the dirtiest, least refined fuel and see how pissed it makes yah!)

btw, I do plenty of research.....and I stand by my opinions.

YOU are the one who decided to buy a disel....no body put a gun to your head.

IF there is no market for oil here, then the rich will not waste thier time or money here......but, just endorsing this drill baby drill, caused the oil to drop.  The arabs WANT to be sure we buy our oil from them and no one else.

At the least we need to open up the market to see what we REALLY have, because even most expert say they really do not know, we may very well have billions MORE than what was once forcasted....
