Here's a picture of the church that our family donated to the community in Kentucky where it sits in the middle of our farmland.
It was built and dedicated in 1820:

Here is that same church during the dedication in 1820: (Picture of the picture I own. I could scan it but I have my reasons for not doing so.)

If you look to the right of the church in the pictures, you will see one of the very same trees.

The one to the left in the 1820 picture, was cut down by the church 5 years ago; despite the fact it was nearing or over 200 years old!

They've added onto it through the years, and when I was a kid spending summers on that farm, I remember when they took down the old bell cupola and replaced it with what you see there now. The original bell is still in it though, and it rings just before Sunday services each and every Sunday.

I remember when they first expanded outwardly, and they did not cut down the tree to the left of the picture. It stood VERY close to that church forever until they finally cut it down. Dangerously close. Were that church located outside of the protective mountains that surround it, that tree would have come down and smashed that church for sure.

That farm has rarely, if ever, seen high winds or wind shear conditions. It gets its share of hail from time to time, but the winds never. . .

(Ironic that an old agnostic like me comes from a family of bible thumpers. No?)  :devil29:

Washington (CNN)U.S. Capitol Police have converged Wednesday on a small manned aircraft that has landed on the west front of the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. Police have taken the pilot into custody.

"The U.S. Capitol Police is investigating a gyro copter with a single occupant that has landed on the grassy area of the West Lawn of t‎he U.S. Capitol. The U.S. Capitol Police continues to investigate with one person detained and temporary street closures in the immediate area," said Capitol Police Lt. Kimberly Schneider in a statement to CNN.

According to the FAA, this is restricted airspace and the individual did not get special permission to fly in this airspace.

The Capitol Police have not disclosed his identity, but did say he is in custody for questioning and they don't yet know whether it was a mechanical issue or an intentional landing on the Capitol grounds.

The building is no longer in lockdown, however, and the Senate Sergeant at Arms tells CNN that everything is under control.

I have wanted a gyrocopter ever since I saw plans to build one in Popular Mechanics back in the 60's!

Back in the 60s, my father had the chance to invest in either Xerox or a gyrocopter company based in Muncie...guess which one he chose?

Here's a hint, I ain't rich.
