That's as good as money in the bank.

CNN is reporting that this guy posted that he was going to do this on the Internet.  He originated his flight in Gettysburg, PA, and flew down to DC.  He was probably at a very low altitude and may not have popped up on the radar.

Of course, he's originally from Florida.

I don't believe I have ever seen one of those type copters before. He was pretty brave and pretty stupid!

This raises several alarms for me. That thing was probably too small to show up on radar. You can bet terrorists are paying attention to this and it won't be long before we see at least an attempted attack somewhere in the world using one of these things.

Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

It doesn't get much more Floridian than grilled Mahi at home.

Fired my mower up for the first time this year ..the yard looks sooooo much better!  It felt good working in the yard once again.

I rode the tractor for the 2nd time yesterday. . . (That's what I get for applying green-up fertilizer 3 weeks ago.)

And despite feeling a bit under the weather today, I fired up the steel horse and took her out for a 250 mile stroll this morning.

She needed a bath, but I needed the therapy a whole lot more.

But they have come a long way!

http://www.popularmechanics.co.za/outside/gyrocopters-go-mainstream/

A friend and I built a Benson Gyrocopter in 1980.  I must say it is one adrenalin pumping flying machine.  I flew the Gyro 65 hours in the air, not counting the time I spent learning to fly the machine.  You see there is no place for an instructor.  You learned one step at a time to fly it and if you rush it, it just might kill you.  But it is quite safe, one of the safest of the small home built flying machines, that is why we decided to build a Benson Gyrocopter.

One reason the Gyro didn't take off in sales is because it needs space to take off in.  Even tho the Gyro can land at zero forward speed it need to get up to 40 MPH to get it off the ground.  I had an engine out at about 1000 ft over an interstate highway.  I found a fresh plowed muddy field to land in.  I landed with out moving one inch, smooth as a feather.  I really enjoyed my time flying it.

What kind of license from the FAA do you need to fly one of those things?
