So it would appear those of us who achieved our degrees While working full time within our careers are no exception to your rules ?

Ignorance cannot be taught, it must be chosen.
As long as you seem to be inferring those of us who chose different paths than you and some of the others chose are stupid or ignorant then yes, it stands as it stands.  The path you chose made you happy just as the path I chose made me happy neither of us would have been happy doing anything other than what we did so why does that make my path stupid or ignorant?  I do not have a problem with the path you chose what I have a problem with is most who chose your path lord it over those of us who didn't.  Not all with a college education are like that but there are those chosen few who are and automatically put those who didn't go to college on the defensive because of their attitudes and never ending mentioning of the fact they are more educated and therefore their opinion counts while ours has no bearing even though they may not be any more schooled on a particular subject than we are.

I think most of us who went to college and got degrees worked while attending college. Even my niece, who just graduated in May worked at a fast food place while attending college!

I worked two jobs at the same time I was getting my first degree. Nearly killed me!

A little over ten years later, I had a family when I went back to school for another one. Again, I had to work while I was in school.

I think I earned it.
Kudos on doing that while having a family!!

And you should be quite proud of the fact but still in all you should not put others down who did not want to take that path for a job they wouldn't have liked and would have been miserable in just for the sake of saying they had gone to college.  The type of jobs I liked did not require that at the time so what would have been the point.  I did have to take some schooling for becoming a Realtor that was no big deal IMO.  Even the continuing Ed classes for the ever changing financial aspect and forms at the time was no biggie but it was higher learning of a sort.

I have never put any one down because of a lack of education. However, I cannot resist fighting blatant, willful ignorance.

I have never met anyone who went to college just so they could say they had gone to college. All of my classmates and colleagues were hard working people who wanted a better life. And thanks to a good education, we got that life.

You know, it sad to say, but I know several kids that are going to college, without a plan, and have no clue what they want to do, but they are going, because their parents said they have too.

Racking up an nice bill, probably for nothing in many cases.....some of these kids are just there to party, at the parents expense.

And one day, they will probably thank their parents.

I had no clue what I wanted to do until I was midway through my second year. And then after ten years, I changed course again. I'm happy with that.

Sad to say, there are many that way. It must be a generation thing. I think many of us knew what we wanted to do with our lives but nowadays a lot of kids don't. My niece knew she wanted a degree in journalism and got her degree in that and now works for a paper. She is lucky, a lot of kids whether they go to college or not have no clue what they want to do!

I think many kids will be glad, but I think far too many kids these days don't understand how hard it is to earn a buck, and are spoiled to the bone.  It is just a party.  This economy is not the best right now for kids coming out with a degree...it doesn't mean there is a great paying job waiting on them.

You mean to tell me you've never met a professional student which is what I call someone who is continually going to college but still, even after a lot of years, has not decided what they want to do?  Boy have you ever lead a sheltered life.

I worked full time the entire time as well. 12 hour shift and classes with children. I absolutely can relate to that!

I wasn't married or had kids when I was attending college but I took 12-18 hours a quarter and worked full time. Yes, the college I went to was a quarter system. They changed to semester system several years later after I graduated!

The girl's mother needs to distance herself -- just not be there for him, screen her phone calls, feign illness, anything to keep from talking to him.  And the same for her daughter. Silence hurts , really hurts, but in the long run is kinder.
In the very long run, I might add.  You can't really appreciate the pain of rejection or deception until you've experienced it yourself. It's kinda like the old saying, "If it don't kill you it'll make you stronger."
