I've been following this story since yesterday and couldn't help but think of the police dog was shot probably unnecessarily and I wonder if that might be the case here. I haven't looked at the link above because I've been following it on online news, but I have doubts.

According to some friends who know the families involved, the boy taunted the dog on a daily basis. The dog owner has a high shadow box fence and the dog would bark at people who walked too close to the fence. The boy would put his face against the fence and aggregate the dog or throw objects over. Not heavy objects, but sticks, empty soda cans, etc. The dog owner family talked to the boy's family about it. The boy still continued to mess w/the dog to impress his friends with his bravery. Yesterday, the dog found a way out. It didn't bust through the fence, a board was loose. He grabbed the boy. In the news video, the boy seems banged up a bit, small amount of blood, but I'm not sure the dog "attacked" the way they're making it sound. If a picture of the dog is in the link above, look at the size and muscle structure of the dog and ask yourself, "if a true attack had taken place, what would the result be?"

Next, the officer claims the dog charged him. I think the officer was scared and used his weapon. I wasn't there, maybe he's a hero. Maybe the little boy is a victim, but I can't help but feel like the dog is the victim.

Interestingly enough, Maryland senate is voted on a "pit bull bill" on Friday.
The bill initially proposed a ruling that pit bulls are dangerous and the owner (and landlord) could be held liable for a dog bite without previous evidence of the dog being dangerous.
It looks like they're coming to more reasonable terms and making the owners solely liable, but that should be for ALL dogs, not just pit bulls.

Coincidence?

A man I work with has a dachshund. Over the weekend it bit a neighbor girl, amputating a finger.

Nothing happened to that dog and it is still at its home today. . . Had it been a pit bull, the media would have been all over it like white on rice, and the dog would have been euthanized.

In the story you posted, it appears that the owners had abandoned the dogs there, so they were hungry, thirsty, and when the boy who teased them came by to do so again, they got out and bit him. . .

The male was shot a killed, but no word on the female who is pregnant.

I agree, the officer over-reacted and that the injury to the teasing boy clearly indicate that the dog had no other intention than to make him leave. Clearly the injuries to the boy would have been much more severe had the dog truly been "dangerous and aggressive".

Nice ride aboard the steel horse yesterday; driven by the power outage. Ended up with two of my brothers in law and our wives riding around for a few hours. It was a bit weird how that came about. We were all out just riding and just ran across one another at an intersection in Alexandra.

The we had a nice dinner at the house (burritos and spanish rice) and a nice campfire to cap the evening here at the stall.

I spoke too soon, my computer bit the dust again, guess I will have to take it to the shop. I'm back to using my husband's laptop. Our nice neighbor came over last night and installed the software for the wireless printer. He had to put in a patch to get it to work, so now at least we can print from this one.  :)

"Vertigo". A week or so back I commented to some of my friends that there were an awful lot of incidents occurring around me with people being rushed to the ER with this condition.

I made this comment after two or three people I am acquainted with were diagnosed with the condition. In my entire life I had not come across more than two prior to the last week or so. (At that point).

Today I now have encountered 6 people who have been diagnosed with vertigo. 3 of them at work.

Something is going on. 2 or 3 might be a coincidence, but 6 inside of two weeks?!

Either there is a disease that is driving this condition that is in fact contagious and as of yet has not been identified, or the aliens have been around this area over the last 2 weeks, and "probing".  :spooked:
