I'd agree with you, but that sort of propaganda, and those who use it to manipulate the weak-minded of our electorate, is, and are, the primary thing(s) which are ruining our country from within - and I can't find that humorous even though I understand that's one way to deal with the despair of it all.

The thing that really chaps my hide, (and I am not speaking about anyone in particular here), is that this kind of tactic has been utilized by the opposition since well before the POTUS was elected, it has increased steadily since, and despite the fact that they have now virtually handcuffed the man surrounding accomplishing anything during his term, they continue to use it.

It is almost as if they are scared to death of the man!

This latest dose of tripe makes one wonder what they are really bitching about. Maybe they want him to go there with less than 1/4 of the security and protection, have him stay at the India HoJo, and get assassinated.

The worst part about it is if that were to happen they'd boo hoo it up and wring their hands in public, but behind closed doors they'd be dancing a jig. It just makes me sick to hear / read the crap they endlessly put out there, with little to no idea of what they are talking about, and no evidence to support it either.

How many frigging times do we have to revisit the birth certificate issue? Yet here we are STILL hearing that tripe despite the fact it has been answered and proven to be nothing but lies and puffery. . .

all I am stating is, IF, and I understand the IF, but, IF this IS true, they are spending this amount of money to go to this meeting....I'm thinking, maybe he should leave the wife and kids at home on this one...maybe skip the taj maha thing....merely for the fact we have about 20 million pissed off folks right now....and he could use a little more positive PR at this point of his tenure.

also, IF it truly does cost this amount, then keeping it out of the press would be wise...

just sayin...

Palehorse the same thing goes for Palin....it is almost like your are scared to death of the girl...and don't tell me she is not getting the same type of bs press and hype.

Their favorite tactic. Designed to work especially well on the weak mind.

PH, it's as I've mentioned before, it's racism, a goodly portion of white America, and RW white America at that, lost its friggin' mind when the reality of a black man holding the reins of power smacked them square in the face.

Which reminds me, I have another thread to resurrect.

'If' is always a good excuse to CYA over commentary without factual basis, like the above - and it's exactly the tripe I was referring to that is ruining this country.

You wonder why we attack the poster? It's because of stupid comments like this ...

Did he have Lora and the kids with him?

Do you think we have to pay for an extra seat on the plane when he takes his wife? Do you think we have to pay for an extra room at the hotel? Where did you get the idea that he is taking the kids - pulled out of your arse like you do so many other times?

oh, btw, Dubya's wife's name is not "Lora"

I stumbled upon Glenn Beck talking about Obama's trip yesterday. My jaw dropped with all the unsubstantiated claims and speculation. His intent is to be divisive as if the American people need that right now, but unfortunately, the non-thinking segment of the population will lap it up like milk. Responsible and ethical people in the media just don't do that.

is it true or not?....no one is denying it.  Why don't the white house clear the air?

You know as I think more about this, the question keeps coming up in my mind is ... WHY is this trip so important?...serious question, I'm not knocking the POTUS for traveling, but why this one?  to an extremely dangerous area....what is so important that he meets "who ever" face to face....what is the pay off?  I'm not being factious, just curious.  The security is without a doubt going to be enormous, as well it should be, for such an event.  I think it is a fair question by voters to ask.

Why don't Obama just clear the air.  You sound like the reporters over in the first Gulf War when the military said that they would not answer any questions about battle plans.  After this was say the speaker asked, "Is there any questions"  A  reporter is called on and asks, "Sir, where will the next battle take place and at what time?  Grow up :chick:

What I don't understand about any of the presidents as far back as Truman, why would you take your wife and/or children with you to a place so dangerous that you need that type of protection?

I like Terry Pratchett's observation on the phenomenon. He says, "A lie can run around the world before the truth can get its boots on."

I've been lax about checking this brouhaha out. I've had a busy and trying couple of weeks, and it starts again Sunday night. However... I did finally get time to run this puppy to its kennel. The $200 million line has ONE source, an unidentified Indian, who was speaking "on the condition of anonymity." It's easy to see why he wanted to be anonymous -- the whole freakin' thing is a lie!

Thanks Olias and Sandy, for getting some factual links out there.
