What I don't understand about any of the presidents as far back as Truman, why would you take your wife and/or children with you to a place so dangerous that you need that type of protection?

Probably not, neither of us have any desire to go to India, but you missed the point of my question. Why would you knowingly take your family someplace and put them in the kind of danger that evidently is there? Going yourself is one thing, putting your family in that position is something else.
