Maybe I'm missing something, but if each individual is taught HOW to use critical thinking, doesn't the individual take into consideration the variables that apply to the situation they are discussing? I mean...it doesn't sound like a pat formula to me.  It sounds like each individual uses the critical thinking, and forms their own opinion based on the standardized formula.  And while it may not be the exact definition of a formula, Palehorses definition certainly has the groundwork for that.  If a variable is changed, wouldn't all that are involved in the discussion eventually come to the same conclusion?   Now if one person does the thinking, without all that is involved and everyone else just agrees with it, without doing their own analysis, then surely those people would be the sheeple.
Looks like I've come full circle.

It seems as though people who use critical thinking are basing it a lot of times on info obtained through theory rather than fact and then reasoning the theory into fact.  According to "critical thinking" everyone should have the same opinion about everything and there is no excuse for a different opinion because it is being dumb and not thinking for yourself to think differently when presented with their evidence.  To me critical thinking is not only being taught how to think it is being taught what to think.

Well again, I'll say, I don't "think" I use critical thinking....at least not to the extent of Palehorse's definition.   So I'm someone that just forms opinion on the most information I have available to me.  I just don't believe everything I hear or see, I keep a fair amount of doubt on my side.

This is ridiculous for more reasons than I care to waste my time explaining.

I like how ya'll stick to discussing the issues rather than badmouthing people who disagree with you.  Damn, those last few posts were really important to the issue which was being discussed.
