And it absolutely is the truth: the Republicans ignored intelligence that terrorists intended to attack our country using commercial airliners and terrorists did attack our country using commercial airliners.  Where is the "crock"?  WTF alternate universe do these people live in?
Even old die hard Charlie Rangle is sayin' somethin' ain't right and you know he's an Obama man.  Oh, and the old "blame Bush" deflection ain't gonna work here either.

Seems to me there's a bunch of scrambling in DC to explain a bunch of things at the moment.  I really feel sorry for Jay Carney.  He's been under fire from everyone the last few days because of conflicting stories.  Of course he did take the job and keeps putting up with it so guess it's up to him to keep on or quit.  Seems like the AP doesn't like their personal phone calls, emails and those of their families looked into by the government.  Imagine that.

I will say this much; I don't like what the DOJ did however I will await the full story before blindly trying and convicting those who may not have a damn thing to do with what transpired.

Moreover, my disdain for the IRS is on record here, and I in no way believe that what they (meaning the IRS leadership and employees involved) did was acceptable in any way, shape or form. In fact my first "instinct" is to blindly lash out at them; however my life experiences have taught me to await the full story before blindly lashing out at individuals who may have had nothing to do with what transpired.

In neither case would I be willing to assume that the decisions made were handed down from the white house, and until the facts are known I will never assume such a thing.  Unlike some. . .

The AP ran a story that contained classified information about a covert CIA operation that they could only have obtained by a leak in that organization.  The DOJ is well within their rights to investigate this serious breach of national security.

The AP ran a story they were asked to hold for a year, which they did, and that still doesn't excuse what happened.

So let me get this straight, torturing people in the name of national security is ok but checking the AP's phone records in the name of national security is not; do I have that right?  In that vein, I would expect that you would also argue against the government's intrusion into the personal computers of suspected child pornographers; is that correct or does this right to privacy you pretend to champion only extend to corporations and not to individuals?

Stay on this and quit trying to deflect onto Bush again.  They did this to several, not just the one who did the story, looking for sources and that is wrong.  They were being taught a lesson and nothing more.

I've said this before so I am repeating myself here, but there are things that happen in this world each and every day, which the average citizen knows nothing about. Some of them impact national security and in order to protect same the entities whose responsibility it is to protect national security must take proactive measures in order to protect this nation.

Only those with clearance are privy to this information, and yet your statements seem to infer you have access to such information. What level of security clearance do you hold?

Please answer the questions.

Let alone the fact that all of the Republicans who are now screaming about this are the selfsame ones that demanded that the Obama administration clamp down on leaks to begin with.

Yes, much in the same way Republicans are trying to blame Clinton for the attack in Benghazi even though she warned them that their  cutting the funding for embassy security by $128 million in 2011 and $331 million in 2012 would be detrimental to national security.

And these are the people who harp on about accepting personal responsibility...

Washington, DC—Idaho Senators Jim Risch and Mike Crapo are calling for Attorney General Eric Holder to appoint a special counsel to investigate the "avalanche of leaks" originating out of the executive branch.  Crapo and Risch made the request for the independent investigation in a letter to Holder signed by 25 of their Senate colleagues.

"The numerous national security leaks reportedly originating out of the executive branch in recent months have been stunning," wrote the senators.  "If true, they reveal details of some of our Nation's most highly classified and sensitive military and intelligence matters, thereby risking our national security, as well as the lives of American citizens and our allies. If there were ever a case requiring an outside special counsel with bipartisan acceptance and widespread public trust, this is it."

The letter was circulated by Senator Lindsey Graham (SC) and signed by Senators Lamar Alexander (TN), John Barrasso (WY), Roy Blunt (MO), John Boozman (AR), Richard Burr (NC), Saxby Chambliss (GA), Susan Collins (ME), John Cornyn (TX), Mike Crapo (ID), Jim DeMint (SC), Mike Enzi (WY), Charles Grassley (IA), John Hoeven (ND), Mike Johanns (NE), Mark Kirk (IL), John McCain (AZ), Jerry Moran (KS), Lisa Murkowski (AK), Rand Paul (KY), Rob Portman (OH), James Risch (ID), Pat Roberts (KS), Marco Rubio (FL), Pat Toomey (PA), David Vitter (LA), and Roger Wicker (MS).

Dave Weigel highlighted a series of quotes from congressional Republicans demanding a sweeping investigation of last year's leak, which is exactly what the DOJ gave them. If Republicans expressed outrage about the AP story now, they'd effectively be arguing, "We can't believe the Justice Department is doing what we suggested they do."
