Are you suggesting they aren't accidents?

The reality is that the equipment ages and fails eventually.  The original route of the Keystone XL pipeline called for it to pass directly over the Ogallala Aquifer, one of the largest reserves of fresh water in the world which spans eight states, provides drinking water for two million people, and supports $20 billion in agriculture.
Last I knew they changed the route.

Last I knew they changed the route.

And as soon as they did so, permission to begin construction was granted.  People like you were arguing that they should have let them build the pipeline right across the aquifer.

Drill baby, drill;Spill baby, spill!

(Reuters) - Exxon Mobil on Sunday continued cleanup of a pipeline spill that spewed thousands of barrels of heavy Canadian crude in Arkansas as opponents of oil sands development latched on to the incident to attack plans to build the Keystone XL line. . . .

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/03/31/us-exxon-pipeline-spill-idUSBRE92U00220130331

Now imagine this happening over the aquifer beneath the Keystone route. . .

Okay, PH...help me out here.  I understand the serious concerns of this project.  But, am I not right that we already have several miles of pipeline that already exists in that area?  This new pipleline as I know it, runs through an area where the possibilty of enviromental risks are minimal, it is going to be equipped with sensors hooked to a satellite to monitor pressure.  I'm not making light of this, by any way, shape or form...I understand the risks IF a disaster was to happen it could be enormous, but not so much with THIS pipeline as to the one's already existing.

The economic impact of this could be significant, and we are in dire needs of some signifcant boost....I think it is worthy of more debate before it is scrapped.

No one suggested simply scrapping it.

All of this Canadian dirty filthy tar sand oil will travel through the middle of our country and out the Gulf of Mexico to China and everywhere else in the world.   If it doesn't mess the middle of the country it will pollute the Gulf of  Mexico.

Doing nothing for the American gas prices or American except for 35 or 40 permanent workers.  The only country that is going to make real money on this dirty oil is Canada and we get all of the mess and poison.

This way the Canadian oil companies will get to screw us along with the American and British oil companies.      :trustme:

Yep, we sure can blame Canada on the latest oil pipe line leak.     Where the Canada tar sand oil is running down the street in a new house division.

This pipe line was built in 1940, I wonder why it busted.     No maintenance, no inspections and just keeps pumping the acidic tar sand oil.

Let's give the oil companies another tax cut.

Canada doesn't own the pipeline, Exxon does.

What I heard was that it was Canadian tar sand oil.  All of the rest is correct.  Built in 1940 with no maintenance or safety checks.

Whoa! Think about it, Henry.

Does a gay or lesbian couple have the universal right to get married and therefore receive the same benefits as heterosexual couples - one small example - the right to file a joint tax return?

I think we need to approach this as what our fed gov is going to recognize who qualifies under "joint tax return".  Perhaps a civil union should be recognized. But the bottom line is, marriage is between a man and a woman.  Maybe it is tic for tac to many, but we cannot start the battle of redefining what words mean or don't mean...THAT is the big argument here as far as I am concerned.

The argument is about rights. Period. Would you deny the rights of an entire class of people based on sexual preference?
