Thanks to Newt and the Contract with America......I will also point out that Clinton reduced federal spending to 18.2 percent of GDP from 22.1 percent, thanks in large part to a Republican-controlled Congress that forced the issue.....they also, cut spending on domestic discretionary programs as well as entitlement spending through welfare reform. 


I will remind you too, that Clinton lowered the top capital gains tax rate from 28 percent to 20 percent and created a new $500 child tax credit..(Thanks to the GOP controlled congress).....The economy was decidedly stronger following the tax cut than it was following the tax increase.

I have supplied much info regarding Clinton's spending and taxes, and how they contributed to our economy.  It WAS indeed a fact that Newt and congress WAS in charge and led the way on several bills that led to the Clinton prosperity.  I also in the past have given Clinton his props for working across the aisle to get things done.... He was twice the leader that Obama is.  I have also stated, I would much rather have a Clinton POTUS and Newt Speaker of the House anyday over what we currently have.

I personally believe that what is happening to the republican party is the best thing to happen to them in a long time.....they are going to have to finally settle on what they stand for and rebuild.  They principals that represents the GOP has been diluted and tarnished over the years.  I think this is going to be the opportunity for some real conservatives to lead the way.   The Rubio and Ryan styled GOP are future.

I wasn't even HERE in 2005...and I made it quite clear, I was and always HAVE been agains pork barrel spending.  I can careless WHO is in OFFICE.  It may have not as been as much of an issue back then because our economy was running smooth then.......unemployement was below 5%.
