Now figure in the cost in unemployment and retraining and add it to, or should I say subtract it from, this fantastic savings.  Now of course you will have to figure this out nationwide since you know others in other states are also going to lose jobs.

Ummm, loan service ain't exactly rocket surgery, me. No one will lose a job, because the loan service people at the banks will still be servicing the consumer, commercial and mortgage loans. But somebody might get a job doing loan service for the government. Isn't job creation a good idea?

Guess you missed the part about them still being able to service the loans. . . AND Muncie and Fishers offices of Sallie Mae are projected to gain up to 1,000 additional positions. . .AND the additional positions created with the government to service the loans the private sector doesn't want.

Cut off the unemployment figures and just how much do you think it will cost above and beyond that number, due to foreclosure of homes and families that are rendered homeless? GOP obstructionists don't care about that and figure they can just blame it on the POTUS. . .

And THEN it will hit YOU where you live, with the diving home values it will drive. . .

Oh yes, I forgot you have to figure in the cost of the new government employees, including benefits,  who will have to be hired.  Also if they run it the same way they do everything else you will have to figure it two government employees for every one the private lending institution used.

The CBO already did that and the figures quoted are after overhead is deducted. . .

WASHINGTON -- Sallie Mae and other student loan servicers affected by a change in the federal student loan program can apply for a share of $25 million in job retraining funds, the Department of Education announced Wednesday.

The change eliminates the role of private lenders in issuing student loans and could affect Sallie Mae's Hoosier employees. The company employs nearly 1,700 people in Fishers, its largest branch, and about 700 at a call center in Muncie.

Sallie Mae did not respond to requests for comment Wednesday.

The company has said it expects to cut about one-third of its 8,500 employees nationwide.

So, the local gains through consolidation of offices, and increased positions within the government; for which current displaced workers within the industry will be provided preferred status, are meaningless???

You seem to keep forgetting where the government gets the money to pay the salaries of the government employees and how the government handles things.

And you conveniently overlook the fact that the additional funding has already been accounted for within the cost savings, so no new revenue is going to be required. . .

The Troll

Write this down,  make youself a  little note.  The Troll says that nothing will be done about the broken pipe until BP finishes the relief wells.  Once they get them drilled they will stay there for years until the pool of oil under the Gulf is empty.  The reason, their reliving the pressure on the gusher which they will have under control and not leaking any crude.  Anybody want to take a bet.

I was reading about the exstream pressures this gusher has.  One sciencist says that the well might have pressures of 50,000 PSI to 100,000 PSI, what does Bp have that will handle that pressure.  Their Blow out preventer had a pressure limit of 15,000 PSI.  The same thing might happen like the first well, having the drill pipe blown out of the well.  One thing they won't have this time.  Is if you look at the gusher most of the natural gas is gone.  Maybe this time it won't blow up and burn.  Just gush all over the place.  Then we will have 3 gushing wells.  :wall:  :wall: :wall:

Amazing the amout of distaste me has for government jobs. Job creation IS a good thing regardless of whether or not it's government or private industry, union or non, temp or perm, they all feed into the economy.

You give me a pain where a hemorrhoid could fill in for you.

Unless you have been lying to us, which is a lot.  You are not super rich.  The amount of taxes you pay to the federal government, where you live and bitch and moan in, would fill a piss-ant's eye cup.

You "ME",  are paying the lowest federal taxes you have ever paid.  You are paying more in taxes (the amount) than you were paying 30  years ago is because you are making more money.  When I hired into Ford in 1957, I was paid $1.81 per hour and the job I quite to take it was 81 cents per hour.  I thought I was in high cotton.  Wow, a dollar raise, $40 a week extra before taxes.

There is one thing I never cried, bitched, moaned, cussed was paying taxes to this country.  I served my country for $89 per month.  But I never complained about paying taxes to my country, America.  I figure the price of the ticket, for the privilage of living in this country are the taxes we pay.  Go find a country were you don't have to pay taxes and MOVE!  Bye, Bye. :tiphat:

WHO pays the salary for those gov jobs?.....That money HAS to come from the private sector.....it is common logic that if that becomes TOO one sided (more gov jobs than private jobs), we have got REAL problems.....THAT is NOT the way our Country was designed....I don't think it was OUR forefathers intent, to build a nation where the Government took care of everyone from cradle to grave....I think that kind of tarnishes the whole "LIBERTY" thingy....
