There are some that are so restrictive that they even try to tell you what kind of flowers you can plant and dictate the colors of your house if you chose to paint or side it.

Well, where I live it isn't an option either way, but my point is that I don't think someone should have a law prohibiting anything on my property as long as it's up to par safety-wise.

Which is exactly why I'll never live in a community controlled by a HOA.

I know and although I think the initial intent was to keep properties/communities nice and property values up, they've evolved into something that is more trouble than what it's worth.

There are also towns that set certain restrictions on homes w/in the city limits. Not down to the flowers in the yard, but close.

None of that's for me. If I buy something, it's mine and if I want hot pink shutters, venus fly traps and a 10 foot fence built out of PBR cans, then that's what I'll have

Okay, for the record, that's not what I want ;D but I'm just sayin'...

Yeah, those HOA's are real jackasses. I know, I live in a community with one. . .

I have a friend in Noblesville who bought a home with a HOA.  He had live out in the country before he bought there.

Well, everything was going great, until he planted a tomato plant in the planter in front of his home.

He said, about 3 days later, two old pinch nosed women and a old man knock on his door and said get rid of the tomato plant, he told to go to hell and closed the door.

The next day he gets a registered letter from the HOA, saying get rid of the tomato plant or pay $50 per day.  He blew a fuse, but it didn't do any good, so by, by tomato plant.

He said, God damn it, I own a quarter of a million dollar house and I can't plant a God damn  tomato plant.

Last year he wanted a new garage door and he wanted windows in it.  He order the door, a friend who lives there, said did you get permission from the HOA  to put up that door and they don't like windows in them.

Well, they had to have a vote of the doors.  They give him to have windows in his garage door.

I really want to live in a place like this.  FREEDOM!

Yup! No change in exterior home colors without permission and formally filing for it. No flower beds without a plot of survey that shows the placement. No outbuildings, or storage sheds, no fence over 4' tall on a corner lot (  ), no stockade type privacy fencing, shadow box preferred, no above ground pools, only in ground and approval is required for that as well. No parking on the street overnight, no boats, RV's, trailers, parked in driveways, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. . .

Think I filed a plot of survey plan for our flowers, trees, and shrubs? HELL no!

Bastards won't let us put up the fence we want, so I am not putting up a fence at all. They can just meet and greet the lil puppy if they stray onto our grounds. (He's staked out and cannot leave our property, not that he would if he could anyway).

And, like true republicans, the Prez of the homeowner association has a relative in here and THEY have a corner lot, with a privacy fence, and a stockade privacy fence at that. AND it goes up beyond the back edge of the home, which they also do not allow. What do you think the response has been each time anyone else is denied permission to do the same and points that obvious deviation out? "Oh, they're grandfathered in". . .

I cannot wait until they fill this place up and we can then vote to boot Asocia out as our HOA and self govern.

Worked with a forman who had a real nice home in Greenwood, (Carmel South).  His kid got old enough, they wanted a swing set.  So he bought a nice one for about $400.  He knew it was going to last forever.

He got all set up and the next day two old ladies from the HOA showed up and said, the swing set doesn't meet the HOA standards.

He said, what do you want.  Well the one that is approved is Redwood and is $4500.  They then left saying to tear his swing down.

I said, what did you do, will I gave it to a friend and he came and tore it down.  I said, what about your kids.  Hell, they don't need a $4500 swingset.

The problem here is that the HOA is the same one that runs the Carmel site, and they do it from Carmel. They are trying to hold the same policy to both areas and its going over like a bad beer fart in church around here.

I figure when they shoot a couple of nasty-grams to the COG pastor and deacons who live in here, for planting shrubs and trees without permission, they'll open up a can of worms they aren't willing to eat; or gawd will impose his wrath on them.

Seriously though, we're out of here as soon as we can get our money out of the place. . .

That is what is so nice about Lapel, Indiana.  It is like Mayberry, tho our cops are not as nice.  But real nice.  My boy said many times when he grew up he was getting out of town.  It was to BORING, BORING.  Well, he own a place here to.  I've lived here since 1943 and my wife has live here for 46 years.  I brought her to the city from the sticks, she use to live in Markleville.

With a few rules and a few building permits.  They pretty much leave us alone.

Well. . . sooner or later we all end up doing things we don't necessarily agree with. I guess I;d rather it be these things than something else. . .

                                      The wingnuts are back.

On this Sunday morning on C-Span the author S.E. Cupp was on pushing her book " Loosing our religion"  In her mind, about the war that the liberal news media has declare of the Christains.

S.E. who doesn't use her full name because she doesn't want readers to know if a man or woman wrote it.  Her name Sara Elizabeth who is an atheist, but practices the Christian values.    :rotfl:

Sara who appearers on many of Fox News Shows, say that Fox couldn't do it all by themselves.  The Christains need to protest MSNBC and CBS every day for the war and the bad things they say about the Christains.  I watch these show everyday and I have never seen any kind of war against the Christians.

It is absolutely unbelievable how low these Republicans will stoop to get at Obama.  She sure pushed my bullshit limit.  An atheist, who wrote about Christians and works for Fox News.  :rotfl:  :rotfl:  :rotfl:
