Lester, you seem to have interesting thought about women.  I am going to let you tell me what you think of the brains of this woman.

Clarence Thomas the Supreme Court Judge's wife sent a message to Anita Hill 29 years after she blew the whistle on old Clarence.  She wants Anita to apologise to Clarence for her testimony against him.

Is this stupid and is she is totally brain dead?  I think she is.  :groan:

I'm left to wonder what Mrs. Thomas hoped to gain by contacting Ms. Hill at this particular juncture.  Why now?   What's the point?  Why not let sleeping dogs (especially mangy ones like that) lie?

Ya, I think she should just call it water under the bridge at this point.  It was all a bunch of BS anyway.  Hell the story didn't even make sense.

How can you categorically say it was a bunch of BS?   The story twixt those two could be neither substantiated nor refuted.  It was all the old, "He said, she said" crap.  Back in those days, inappropriate sexual innuendo in the workplace was FAR more common than it is today.  I have no doubt that Thomas would have been capable of inappropriate comments.

One thing that I will say to his credit is that if Ms. Hill was really being made that uncomfortable by Thomas' alleged comments, she wouldn't have followed him to the EEOC.

I don't know Troll, most wives would be mad forever at a woman for blowing their husband's whistle. I don't know anyone that is an expert on the female brain, they are extremely complicated. I know you will find my next statement very hard to believe Troll - Women have been known to lie. Yes Troll, even under oath and the under the threat of being charged with perjury. No one will ever know who was actually telling the truth I am afraid. There were several discrepancies with Anita Hill's statements but that isn't unusual since the human memory is prone to mistakes. Obviously Mrs. Thomas believes her husband's account and is sticking by her man. That of itself is very honorable.

But to answer your question, I do think it is extremely unusual for someone like Mrs. Thomas to solicit an apology from Anita Hill. As we grow older some of us began to exhibit strange behavior and our minds don't work like they used to. This is a good reason, in my opinion, where Supreme Court justices should be retired instead of holding the position until they decide to retire or they die. But really I see no actual harm out of what Mrs. Thomas did, it is embarrassing and I wonder if her husband was aware of her call. But no one was hurt by her call and she didn't even talk to Anita Hill, she left a message on her answering machine. So instead of making a big deal out of this incident, or trying to determine the sanity of a woman based on what little information I have, I would simply occupy my thoughts with more important issues.

Things like: Are Chupacabras crossing into the US from Mexico and, if they are, is there a practical and economical way to stop them or is it too late? Rather than wasting time worrying about what a possibly senile elderly lady said on an answering machine, we should stop bickering amongst ourselves and think of ways to stop this dangerous creature that sucks the life from its victims, leaving a carcass devoid of blood. I have spent the past several weeks making my home Chupacabra proof because they have very powerful hind legs and can bust through the typical home's exterior door in an instant. Just imagine one night when you are comfortably sitting and watching TV when suddenly you hear a scratching sound coming from the back door. It stops and you are lulled into a false sense of security. Then BOOM, the door flies open, throwing shard of glass all over the floor, and a pair of blood thirsty Chupcabras burst in and jump on you. That scenario my friend concerns me much more than Mrs. Thomas asking Anita Hill for an apology.

Lester, that very subject crossed my mind recently, and a possible response occurred to me. Chupacabras are blood-suckers. A costly step in poultry processing is draining the birds of blood, and then disposing of that blood. Chupacabras are partial to goats, but if they could be retrained to enjoy chicken blood, perhaps the poultry processors could utilize them for this initial processing stage. It's win-win. The company's will no longer have to bus in illegal workers, and yet there would be no need to pay even minimum wage to the chupacabras -- or to provide them with benefits or report earnings for them. And the chupacabras would be satiated with chicken blood, and let you watch your 52" plasma in peace.

Now that you mentioned it, there are several of those not presently being utilized on the old family farm. Gramps used to farm bees back in the day. . .

Lester up to 2 years ago I keep 4 hives of bees. Until all of the bee keepers had Lost Colony disease and we lost so many bees all over the United States.  Had them for many years.  I got them when I retired.  I kept them in the back yard until the campground opened which is of the edge of Salamonie State Reserve at Salamonie Reservoir.  Had Italians, Buckfast, and All Americans.

More than once I have had one hive produce 140 pounds of honey in one season.  6 supers of honey.  How sweet it is.

So why don't you start up again, can't you buy more bees? My brother has a see through hive with a panes of glass on the side. The bees are supposed to go in and out through a hose in the side. He wanted to set it up in his house so he could watch them but his wife wouldn't allow it. He has most of the tools still to harvest the honey. A crank centrifuge thing that separates the honey out of the frames. I read just last week they thnk they have it figured out why the bees wandered off. Something to do with a combination of a mite and a virus I think. Over in Knox County the melon farmers pay the beekeepers to put their hives out next to their fields. I have seen them move the hives on trucks real early in the morning, like 2AM.

That would be good if we could find someone willing to train Chupacabras. Too bad they can't be trained to drink politicians blood but even a Chupacabra turns up its nose at the smell of another bloodsucker.

That's the very reason gramps got into it back in the day. He kept his hives in a portion of his fields that was central to the farm. His were the old style (wood) hives that used screening to keep the queen inside. Had sliding "slats" upon which the hive would build their combs and when it got full of honey he'd hit them with some smoke and slide the slats out, stripping off the honey and comb.

Grams would can the honey, (comb and all), and we'd get fresh raw honey to eat anytime we wanted it.

Gramps was fearless as an apiarist, often going out at the drop of a hat when a new swarm formed, cutting down the limb they were swarming upon, and walking them over to a new hive in which to reside. All in short sleeves and nothing more than a ball cap on his head. He rarely got stung. . . ever. . .

I read where honey is the only food that will not spoil if kept right. The article said the found some honey in a jar that was buried in a Egyptian tomb that was still good. I find that hard to believe.

Did the article say who tasted it to find out?

I know they found it in King Tut's tomb, and several of the other Pharaoh's. . .

The Troll

The main reason I dropped out was hobby beekeepers, I could not buy bee packages and queens.  With the health problems from two different mites and the worse of problem "Colony Collapse", where the bees leave the hive and can't find their way back home.  The large beekeepers cornered the market and took all of bees and queens and packages the bee suppliers produced.  I and my friend tried to buy bees and queens from all over the country and there none for the hobby beekeeper.  The commercial beekeepers were shipping them in from Australia to have them.

I have seen those inside glass sided bee hives.  They work, but I sure don't know how you would move and check the comb frames in the house.  There would be bees all over the place.  Because you would have to work them with smoke and a hood.  I don't know what you would do with the girls in the winter.  Since 90% of the bees are female,  I am sure they wouldn't be happy working with you in your house.

Also you might know that over 90% to 95% of the wild bees are gone.  This year I set out some squash, I had blossoms and no fruit, because you need bees to pollinate all melons.  If you happen to see a honey bee today, it most likely belongs to some beekeeper's hives.  This year I did not see one honey bee in my back yard.  I enjoyed them so much.  I hope they can be save.  If we don't we are going to loose a lot of our fruit and vegetables.
