Guess ya'll would rather make $100 pr hour just to say you make $100 pr hour even though the COL actually gives you less spendable cash on hand.  Ya'll have a bad habit of over thinking and doing fuzzy math and are confusing yourselves.  You're also missing the fact that if there were no businesses there would be no jobs.

I realize you're not as youth challenged as I happen to be but I really thought you were more observant than that.  Quit listening to the smoke and mirror talk and open your eyes.

No spin to it PH.  Out of 50 states to live in, we are 20th.  Not great, but not bad.  Better than well over half of the rest of the states in this country.

Personal income is expected to improve for the rest of the forecast period and employment growth has already rebounded.

From your source ....

Summary

So far in 2014, personal income growth has lagged while payroll employment growth has matched the U.S. rate.

Hard not to improve when there are 2.2 million residents who are officially "low income," meaning they earn less than 200 percent of the federal poverty level. That is $22,980 for an individual or $47,100 for a family of four.

You can make this state rank number one by cherry picking the criteria.

More than 70 percent of new jobs in Indiana paid full-time wages insufficient to pull the worker out of the low-income category.

Indiana's average worker pay ranks 42nd in the nation.

Pray you don't lose your present position, for doing so will mean enduring a 40-50%+ drop in income, or having to move out of state to find a job that pays at a rate comparable to the job you hold now.

I am NOT Cherry picking anything:

Here are all 50 U.S. states as ranked by their working conditions in the 2014 MoneyRates.com analysis:
These rankings are based on each state's Compensation and Quality Factor, a proprietary metric based on these factors in each area:

  • Average salary, according to figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
  • Cost of living, based on data from C2ER.
  • Employment rate, based on BLS data.
  • Workplace conditions, based on the "Work Environment" component of the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index.
