anyone know where i can order a steering valve for mine?  i keep hitting trees....
It's always darkest before the dawn.  So if you're going to steal your neighbor's newspaper, that's the time to do it.

But the after-market stuff never operates like factory-installed.

Get the Ibanez! While Epiphone is a good guitar (owned by Gibson I believe) and you really cannot go wrong with either one, I've never had an Ibanez that didn't play like a dream. Of all the guitars I have ever owned I regret letting the Ibanez models get away from me.

My FIL has an old Epiphone acoustic that he put a new neck and headstock on after he broke it. He loves that guitar, but the Alvarez models both my BIL and I own play far better than it does. One quirk that I have encountered quite often with the Epiphones is with the gear-heads; they seem to slip a lot. Maybe the new ones don't but every one I have ever played has. . . Until I changed them out with a high end after market set.

Just check for cracks where the neck attaches to the body and check to see that the bridge isn't starting to pull up.  Which ever one you choose make sure it has an adjustable neck, truss rod.  To check the bridge hold it in front of you and look down it, finger board away from you, and make sure the body is flat and not bowed.  Hope that helps.

Here is the  Ibanez that I was eyeballing...it comes with a case right now...

Sweet!  Ibanez has come a very long way since I first encountered them back in the mid 70's, and they were not too shabby back then! A lot of their early model guitars have become highly collectible and command a nice price on the used market today. Given their commitment to  quality and playability I would expect that baby to play quite nicely!

Being new I wouldn't expect any bowing, etc.; but as me says, make sure you look her over to see that nothing happened to it during shipment. . .

That case is a good deal too. Hard shell cases are a bit salty these days!

If they have one of these babies in stock make sure you give it a stroll before you decide. (It comes with the case too). My son has a Fender and it is one sweet sounding and playing acoustic let me tell you. . .

Same price too.

I decided to go with the Yamaha FG700S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar...I really liked the sound of this and it had a more distinctive sound over the Epiphone that I was looking at....the wood grain on the sides is more unique and has a very high gloss to it....a nice looking guitar......they did not have the Ibanez that I was interested in...he gave me a good deal on a case and threw in some picks....

and this concludeds the Hawk family Christmas shopping season... :biggrin2:

btw, I did the check list that you guys gave me and it least it made me feel as if I knew what I was doing....no cracks, or warping...and even though I do not consider myself a guitar player, I was still able to play a couple of "diddlies" to compare sound.
