I can't help but think this is just a political move.....I am very curious on what he plans to say....like I said before, IF, it is just a speech to "stay in school"..."don't do drugs"...."be all you can be"...kind of stuff, then....I have NO problem with it......but, I'm telling you right now...IF, he pushes his global warming theories, healthcare plan, and political issues......then IT is going to allow a bomb to explode across this nation....

Don, this is NOT a racial thing...this is more of a president who has tried his hardest to bring dramatic change to a country in 8 months.......he is moving faster, and allowing the spending by any President ever, appointing czars without proper background checks, pushing a healthcare bill that most Americans don't want....he is his biggest enemy....and being black has NOTHING to do with it.....

No I absolutely think that Don is on the right track.  People on my Facebook said that they don't respect the President because he hasn't earned it yet.  Since when does a President have to earn the respect they deserve because they are in the office?  I don't think the military gets to say that their Commander in Chief will get his respect when they deem he deserves it.  It is instant because it should be.

So Henry if he says something like "We need to take care of our planet." does that mean he is pushing the agenda of global warming?

Of course not Kimmi....I'm talking IF he goes into an Algore rant about Polar bears dying because their daddy drives a SUV crap...I kind of disagree on your respect issue....He had the respect of the nation when he took office...his pop rating was around or above 70%.....then he threw the largest spending bill in the history the world with the most pork spending EVER...AFTER he told Americans he was going to STOP pork spending....He got off on a bad foot in my opinion...NOW his pop rating is around 40% and he WANT's to go talking to America's kids.....In my opinion, he should WAIT until things smooth over...there IS too much that American's are dissatisfied with at this structure of his presidency.....in my opinion.

respect is a two way street.............he has to respect those who voted for him IF he wants the respect back.

We all knew no matter how this administration tackled the issues that it was going to take time to fix.  I guess he should sit on his hands and not worry about anything else until problem one is taken care of.  Part of his pre-election speeches were about empowering children to do their best and to improve our performance in a global society.  Sorry kids.  You will have to wait until the economic crisis is over because some people feel that multitasking is not a good thing to do.

I think OUR kids will be just FINE ... IF the President does NOT speak to them....
do you really think that our kids cannot be empowered to do their best or be productive citizens of this world IF the president does not give them a cute little speech?

I think it means MORE to our kids that he does not spend so much money that THEY are stuck paying the bills for a mess that WE created...and multitasking better be something he knows how to do, because he has a slew of tasks to face....( I don't envy him, that's for sure)

I just read where President George H.W. Bush made a similar address to schools in 1991....and like Obama, Bush drew criticism, with Democrats accusing the Republican president of making the event into a campaign commercial......

There are quite a few paranoid nutjobs out there who see this a ploy.

...many of the nutjobs are opposed to this just because it's Obama.

One needn't go any further than this thread to illustrate the veracity in these statements.

We're not pissed off at all...YOU LOST; GET OVER IT!

And by the way, Reagan hosted a group of high school students for a question and answer session at the White House in 1986 that was nationally broadcast in which he said, "When we came into office, the top personal tax rate that the federal government could put on your income was 70 percent.  Now, you can understand, I think, that if you were getting up in those brackets -- there were 14 different tax brackets, depending on the amount of money in each bracket you earned. And when you could look and say, 'If I earn another dollar, I only get to keep 30 cents out of it,' you can imagine the lack of incentive there. Well, we lowered it to 50 percent, and the economy really took off."

What is that if not blatant politics?
