Things seem pretty slow around here, so, I'm gonna get vocal with an issue that really pierces my heart.

I believe America's rejection of God is the reason we are now seeing the moral decay in our society.

Sexual immorality, divorce, drug abuse are only a few things that come to mind that have gone way out of control, since the 1960's, when the liberal movement reared it's ugly head.  Abortions became an acceptable choice.  Sex, between a husband and wife, became a novelty.  Drug abuse is only a misdemeanor in our court system, if that.  Marriage is a throw-away commodity.

I truly feel, if this country does not, repent into putting God first, the decay will mot stop until it has totally destroyed this nation.

There, how's that.......I may seem a little cynical, but this is a real problem that seems like it may not be fixed.

Henry...reading between the lines...you seem to think that we need God/religion in order to be civilized and keep some semblance or moral behavior. Is that a fair statement?

First of all G, I'm a Christian, and I whole heartedly believe, that God IS needed to maintain the blessings that, I believe that he bestowed upon us....I'n not preachin, just sharin...so, I believe it is a fair statement...as far as I'm concerned....but, can a nation be civil without God?...I'm sure it can...

I think I have very good morals. I joke around a lot on the forum, and say some things that may appear that I don't have any, or am very loose.  But the truth of the matter is that I have God in my life, and he likes a joke on occasion.  I never wanted a divorce, I wanted to work on my marriage, drugs have never been an issue in my home, sexual promiscuity has been frowned upon greatly.  And to top it off, I don't go to church to get my weekly morality fix.  This is what my parents ingraned into me. What I have tried to pass on to my kids.   I don't believe you need to have religion in your life to have good morals, you have to have proper upbringing, and if having God as part of your family is influential, that's all the better. Enough about me.

I have opinions on this, but you wouldn't like them.
Looks like I've come full circle.

Let her rip pariann!! ;D

I'm not judging anyone person, WE, as a whole are guilty....I joke around alot also, and probably appear, sometimes, Loose, as you put it...

But, I believe, the Holy Bible IS the moral compass, that being the word of God....I, too, do not believe you HAVE to go to church to have God in your life.....but, as a Country, the more we, as a nation, deny God....the farther down the proverbial toilet we go....

you won't hurt my feelings, expressing your opinions.... ;)

Divorce is not a good thing, but sexual immorality and drug abuse...c'mon, they're all in good fun.

I don't think I meant you personally.  People reading this.  I would get that prompt to back up my opinions, which we all know, isn't always that easy to do.

I think a lot of the reason the morals of so many is lower is because it's a younger generation in control of a lot of things. They are resistant to authority and want to do things their way. Everyone wants to step outside the box, be bold and daring. Don't conform.  Then we get the moral majority going, and there is a major conflict.  Falls back on being an American and living in a free country. We (society) don't want people telling us what we can watch, how we can talk, where we can go, what we can buy. Because we live in a free country.  Parents gave up teaching their kids what freedom really meant, consideration for others, consideration and respect for themselves.  What used to be loose morals behind closed doors has spilled out onto the street.  And again it falls back on living in a free country.  Don't tell anyone that they shouldn't do that, because you are stepping on their rights to freedom.

Make sense?  Or did I just ramble again?

Yes, I do follow you, but, my point is, that the Bible deals with all of these issues, especially on child raising....and that is one of the biggest break-downs in our society in the last 30 or 40 years.....especially in the last 10 or so years....I believe we became a "free" country, because of our forefathers, left a country where, they where being told, How to worship God, they came here, so they could worship God, the way the Holy Bible taught us...not how a King, wanted us to.....Now, this is where I ususaly get everyone's dander all up, but, the more we take God away from our Government, the more un-Godly our Government becomes...hence, abortions and same sex marriages....plus, hundreds of other immoral justifications that are becoming accecptable....

I'm starting to ramble now, but, I'm very passionate about this...

If the younger generation of parents would raise their kids the way they were raised, with or without the bible, you would see a rise in morals, consideration and respect in people.  And if the moral majority would quit trying to rule the media, you might find less resistance to censorship.  These are just my opinions though.

I think we began to see moral decay when we stopped prayer in schools.  That few minutes to repeat the pledge of allegiance and the pledge to the christian flag along with the lords prayer bonded classmates together.  How can you hate someone you just prayed with?
Communities were more secluded, news was provided by the republican or democratic newspaper, depending on the party of your preference, and the 6 oclock news told us all about the world.

We believed in government, we believed that God fearing men led our country against the enemy. That all slid from our hands because of the murder of John Kennedy, the slaying of Martin Luther King, the never was called a war in Viet Nam, and maybe the final blow to the fragility of government was Watergate.

We have elected people with questionable values and given them keys to the house.  We have agreed with their insanity, we have not argued with ridiculous laws and decisions and we have not stopped them  and  they have bankrupted us.

When we lived for the simple things, prayer in the morning, prayer before a meal, during sickness, at birth, at death, and as we ended our day, we had a communion with God.   Now we are too busy, or too shy, or too worried about  who we will offend, and we have forgotten to say thanks and ask blessings.

Love you all--me

It's always darkest before the dawn.  So if you're going to steal your neighbor's newspaper, that's the time to do it.
