First of all, it's not your thought, it's Thomas Sowell's and second of all his opinion means nothing. If Obama hadn't held their feet to the fire then his opinion would have been exactly the opposite.

Nothing positive comes from hate.

How about the freedom of those trying to earn a living which is directly related to the well being of their families who have been impacted by the spill. Who protects their feedom?

I never said it was MY thought....my thought IS, however, how much I enjoy Thomas Sowell and his opinions...secondly, it is typical for you to say that his opinion would be the exact opposite IF.....

the man clearly states an example and illustrates what could happen when you step outside the constitution...but, I agree nothing positive comes from hate.....I remember very well how HATE tore our country apart during the Bush years, with liberal hatred towards the POTUS.....

I'm not saying that it is not a good thing that BP is going to put $20 Billion up for these folks, but that does not undermind the question that Sowell asked....."where in the Constitution of the United States does it say that a president has the authority to extract vast sums of money from a private enterprise and distribute it as he sees fit to whomever he deems worthy of compensation?"

Of course I would b/c I like to point out the obvious and of course he would have said the opposite. He's in business to sell advertising and make his sponor (and himself) richer. The readership wouldn't continue to read if he ever supported something a Democrat does.

So you're basing your hate on the fact that Dubby was scorned? How mature of you.

If the government didn't step in and hold BP, the corporation, financially responsible, wouldn't that serve the corp rather than the people? Wouldn't that be the antithesis of protecting the rights/freedoms of Americans? Shouldn't our government's main priority those negatively impacted and not the corporation?

The Constitution protects the citizens of the U.S. Not the interests of any corporation.  How can that be done w/out insisting that they pay?

Normally we would call that taxation.

... he deliberately sought to activate people who did not normally pay much attention to politics.

Such people were a valuable addition to his political base, since they were particularly susceptible to
name-your-favorite propagandist's rhetoric and had far less basis for questioning his assumptions or his conclusions.

Damn! So that's where the tea-partiers came from.

My thought of the day has to do with this story...............

GM donates $41,000 to lawmakers' pet projects

Now, the people of this country GAVE GM the money to keep from going bankrupt........and these bitches have the freakin GALL to 'give' some of this money to "their favorite" charity?

it kind of goes with the first lady taking a NICE vacations to Spain on the taxpayers dollar, when we have nearly 10% unemployed right now?.............I mean wtf?....................is it THAT important that she HAD to go to Spain?...and to stay in a five-star hotel on the chic Costa del Sol in southern Spain with 40 of her 'closest friends,'"?....wth?  sure it may very well be a "private" trip....but, her being on a plane that is labeled as "Air Force Two"...it operates at a Department of Defense reimbursement rate of $11,351 per hour.

So a 6.5 hour flight to Spain would run $73,781.50.....double for the round trip....this is NOT including the Secret Service expenses....

during times of hardship like we are currently under, it would seem like the WISE thing to do, is that our POTUS, set examples of restraint and lead by example.....no body put a gun to anyones head and made them take this job....if we had a booming economy, maybe this would not seem like a big deal....but we don't have that luxury right now...

my point to posting this "thought of the day".....is just that common sense is GONE right now in our leadership.....and we have got to bring back that common sense if we EVER expect to have prosperous times again in this country....just MY thoughts.. ;)

That what is what I like you Henry, the bullshit never stops.  Pick, Pick, Pick over just plain bullshit.

I know how you know how many trips, the guy votes twice for, George W. went to Texas with his family.  You know how much the Presidential 747 D cost an hour and you want to bitch about one trip to Spain.

You are full of phony conservative bull shit, clear to the morrow of your bones.  Total Bullshit.  Anyway you spell it or say it, total bull shit.  Bullshit.  BuuuuuLL  Shhhhhhhhit.

Sure she stayed in a 5 Star, for security reasons.  The cost of the Secret Service?  Their paid monthly year round, no matter where they are.  So that reason is BULL SHIT.

Where does Boner and McConnell stay when their are out on a government junket?  Motel 8.

Grow up kid and at least sound like you have a brain.  You are sounding silly now.  You know that Boner, when a lobbyist take him of a paid golfing junket, he doesn't stay at the Motel 8.

me

Texas is a lot closer to DC than Spain and Bush's ranch didn't cost us a dime in lodging.  It does seem a little hypocritical to ask us to conserve and then go on an extravagant vacation like that any way you look at it so quit excusing it.  That do as I say and not as I do routine is getting a little old IMHO.  If they are asking all of us to conserve they, the Obama's should be too.  After all it is our money they are spending.  If the money isn't there for us why should it be there for them?

well the reports are in.............it only cost us $375,000 US Taxpaying dollars for Michelle and her 40 friends to live it up for five days in Spain........

but, that's okay.....just blame it all on Bush...it is HIS fault.... ;D
