Just think of how much the world changed during her lifetime.

I've always loved talking to older people and listening to the things they could tell.  We miss a lot when we don't take the time to take interest in and listen to our forbearers.

Law of Logical Argument - Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about.  ;)

"You've probably noticed that opinion pollsters go out of their way to include as many morons as possible in surveys ... I think it's dangerous to inform morons about what their fellow morons are thinking. It only reinforces their opinions. And the one thing worse than a moron with an opinion is lots of them." -- Scott Adams

In other words: Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  ;)

"It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it." -- Upton Sinclair

"Hitler is gone, but if the majority of our fellow citizens are more susceptible to the slogans of fear and race hatred than to those of peaceful accommodation and mutual respect among human beings, our political liberties remain at the mercy of any eloquent and unscrupulous demagogue." -- S. I. Hayakawa

You might be surprised if you make a list of all the things that have changed since you were born. Things change so fast now. I like talking to people who were in their 20's during WWII. They are all so interesting and unassuming.

Not to disparage the recently departed, but I'm glad he never made it onto the SCOTUS.  That guy's views make Antonin Scalia look left of center.

His role in the Nixons' Saturday Night Massacre is what did him in....but, he was very interesting in some interviews I remember seeing of him....

Yep!  Very big proponent of a strong executive branch; almost too strong.  His actions during Watergate showed that.

Jack Klugman - DEAD!  90 years old.

I remember him best as Quincy M.E. where he played the medical examiner always uncovering signs of murder.  ;D

My favorite remembrance was of his portrayal of Oscar Madison opposite Tony Randall's Felix Unger in the tv version of The Odd Couple.

We did a little theater performance for three weeks and I played his character.

Yes.  I was reading one of the news articles about his death.  It said that upon Randall's passing back in 2004, Klugman said that he just couldn't imagine the world without Tony Randall.

Yep, I heard about this at Xmas Eve Dinner. Sad. Ironically, he was reported harvested a time or two before, so when I heard it this evening it made me wonder if this was yet another false harvesting report. . . IIRC he even made a statement in an interview subsequent to the last false report, that he is not dead, was never dead, and wondered where those reports came from. . .
