He may have been a Cowgirl, but he sure was a good player and an even better announcer. . . I recall him vividly during his MNF stints with Howard Cosell and Keith Jackson I think his name was.

Sounds like he went quickly and at least the big C didn't get him! But he will be missed and fondly remembered.

yep...

Gifford was the voice of reason, Don and Howard used to argue and carry on.  Don, was usually just trying to get howard's goat.  I always liked that combo, they made a boring game somewhat interesting.

Thought that was him, but since he was so young, I wasn't quite sure.  Gifford is the only one out of those three who has been able to remain off of this thread.  He's 80.

I recently saw him on "ET" or one of them shows, with his wife, Kathie Lee, and he still looks pretty good.

Yeah, it really isn't the same now is it. . . :'(

And it never will be.  In fact, I expect next seasons lock out to severely negate the NFL's popularity and attendance for years to come. Baseball is a good example of how that works. . . I still do not watch it like I used to, and am easily distracted from it if I do have it on. . .
