SAN FRANCISCO — Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, a fixture in Hollywood for six decades, asked that a priest read her the last rites on Sunday, following hospitalization two days earlier due to complications from hip surgery.

The 93-year-old Gabor, whose string of movies, television shows and wealthy husbands dates to the 1950s, was visited by a priest at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, her husband Frederick Prinz von Anhalt, told Reuters.

Gabor was able to speak "very little," though she was conscious, he said.

She'll be on the list soon it seems.

That tumor is a stage 4 cancer, which has now been diagnosed. . .  :spooked:

Stage 4 means it is metastatic.

Throat cancer stages III and IV are very serious conditions. Throat cancer in these stages usually requires a combination of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Most throat cancers at this stage require the removal of the pharynx or the larynx, or both. Removal of the larynx is called a laryngectomy, and removal of the pharynx is called a pharyngectomy. A laryngectomy is also required for most cases of larynx cancer.

It depends upon how far it has spread though. If it has gone beyond the lymph nodes he is toast. Best case is 2 years if it has spread further. . .

I worked with a couple of guys who had throat cancer and had those "Mr Microphone" devices to talk with. They had their voice boxes removed along with the larynx and pharynx. . . And they lasted 2 or 3 years beyond that before it got them.

They have numerous TVs in the lobby of that building (where he supposedly was), but they're normally tuned to the Discovery family of channels.
