QuoteIn an interview with Fox News' Greta van Susteren, former Vice President Dick Cheney admitted that there is no evidence that Iraq was involved in the September 11th attacks.

"On the question of whether or not Iraq was involved in 9-11, there was never any evidence to prove that," he told the "On The Record" host in a joint interview with his daughter Liz. "There was "some reporting early on ... but that was never borne out," Cheney said. "George ... did say and did testify that there was an ongoing relationship between al-Qaeda and Iraq, but no proof that Iraq was involved in 9-11."

I guess the truth is convenient for the scumbag now, but unfortunately for him it's old news and exposes his lack of integrity even more.

Yep!  He's havin' all kinds of lil' epiphanies now that he doesn't have to pander to the base.

WASHINGTON – Former Vice President Dick Cheney said Monday he supports gays being able to marry but believes states, not the federal government, should make the decision.

"I think, you know, freedom means freedom for everyone," Cheney said in a speech at the National Press Club. "I think people ought to be free to enter into any kind of union they wish, any kind of arrangement they wish."

You would have never caught the arsehole making that kind of comment while still in office.

Interesting!

"In an interview with Fox News' Greta van Susteren, former Vice President Dick Cheney admitted that there is no evidence that Iraq was involved in the September 11th attacks."

Yet there is NO mention of this on the Fox web site. Maybe they should change from "We Report. You Decide." to "We Decide What to Report."

THIS is NOT a news flash.............show me when anybody DID claim there was a direct Iraq involvement with 9/11.......it was generated by the press.

No. . . it was generated by the White House. . . by making statements wherein it was "inferred":

WASHINGTON –
In his prime-time press conference last week, which focused almost solely on Iraq, President Bush mentioned Sept. 11 eight times. He referred to Saddam Hussein many more times than that, often in the same breath with Sept. 11.

Bush never pinned blame for the attacks directly on the Iraqi president. Still, the overall effect was to reinforce an impression that persists among much of the American public: that the Iraqi dictator did play a direct role in the attacks. A New York Times/CBS poll this week shows that 45 percent of Americans believe Mr. Hussein was "personally involved" in Sept. 11, about the same figure as a month ago.

Bush's tough sell on Mideast goals

Sources knowledgeable about US intelligence say there is no evidence that Hussein played a role in the Sept. 11 attacks, nor that he has been or is currently aiding Al Qaeda. Yet the White House appears to be encouraging this false impression, as it seeks to maintain American support for a possible war against Iraq and demonstrate seriousness of purpose to Hussein's regime.

"The administration has succeeded in creating a sense that there is some connection [between Sept. 11 and Saddam Hussein]," says Steven Kull, director of the Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA) at the University of Maryland.

"Iraq continues to flaunt its hostility toward America and to support terror."

President Bush in his State of the Union address, January 2002. The speech was primarily concerned with how the US was coping in the aftermath of 11 September.

--------------------------------------------

"Before 11 September 2001, many in the world believed that Saddam Hussein could be contained. But chemical agents and lethal viruses and shadowy terrorist networks are not easily contained. Imagine those 19 hijackers with other weapons, and other plans - this time armed by Saddam Hussein. It would take just one vial, one canister, one crate slipped into this country to bring a day of horror like none we have ever known."

President Bush in his State of the Union address, January 2003. He made these comments in the context of the links he perceived between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda.

--------------------------------------------

"The terrorists have lost a sponsor in Iraq. And no terrorist networks will ever gain weapons of mass destruction from Saddam Hussein's regime."

President Bush in his speech to the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, September, 2003.

--------------------------------------------

"We've learned that Iraq has trained al-Qaeda members in bomb-making and poisons and deadly gases. And we know that after 11 September, Saddam Hussein's regime gleefully celebrated the terrorist attacks on America.

Some citizens wonder, after 11 years of living with this problem, why do we need to confront it now? And there's a reason. We've experienced the horror of 11 September."

US Secretary of State Colin Powell in a presentation to the UN Security Council, setting out the US case against the Iraqi regime, February 2003.

There was NO spin there, most people knew EXACTLY what she meant.....just the media did THEIR spin to make it seem like she meant more than what she actually said.

You cannot actually say that though can you? 5 months into his administration and already you are willing to state unequivically that this or any other initiative he has initiated is a failure?

The fact is his detractors have been squalling since 2 minutes post inauguration, slinging mud by the metric ton. You boys and girls should really consider closing your pie-holes for at least the first year and awaiting results; good or bad. That way you'll have some data to back up what you're spewing.

The sky is falling is not data, it is propaganda. But I digress.

The Chimp and shotgun Cheney have both been lying and shotgun's statements prove it. Give up the ghost! Even rats have the good sense to abandon ship when it begins taking on so much water. . .

Billions of dollars have been spent on an initiative that basically now appears to have been undertaken as a means of correcting a mistake of the Chimp's daddy during his administration, and / or as a means to obtain or protect oil. And you are okay with that? Heck, had we not spent all that money the stimulus package would be fully funded already! (Not to mention the thousands of lives of good and honorable men and women being spent).

Well, I may not be no Bill Gates or Albert Einstein, but it is pretty clear, as of the first 100 days of this administration....that SOCIALISM is clearly a path that they want to go down.......and, It is something THAT i am not going to sit back for a year or two to raise my hand and digress...I do not like his, ideology, nor am I going to pretend that they are possibly GOOD things....I would GLADLY accept the chimp and shotgun OVER this ludicrous idea, that we can spend our way back into prosperity....and I know that W, allowed WAY to much spending, but that is WAY overshadowed by the new kid.
