1. As was said earlier Henry, if not for the stimulus package the poop storm we are now in would be exponentially larger; effectively negating most current and planned construction projects and multiplying those jobless numbers by at minimum factor of 5 if not more.

2. I agree, spending all this money scares the purple kool aid out of me, but not spending it turns that kool aid red. (Along with giving me a case of the drizzles.)

Letting this country implode is not an option in my mind, and what we had been doing for decades was not and did not work. What we are in now is clear proof of it, and blaming someone who has held office for just over 30 days is a smokescreen.

You are right, congress should be the ones holding the bag on this one. They wrote the legislation, they passed it along with the hat to line their pockets.

I'm telling you all, there is a rebellion in our very near future the likes of which has not been seen before. Chaos will be the norm and jungle rules will prevail.

Get ready . . .

and jumping on board (being less divisive) with MORE earmark and pork spending is going to HELP our country how?

Do you really think they should do nothing?

PH, I agree that we NEEDED a stimulus package, I just think we could have achieved a better package for FAR less money that we spent out of pocket (so-to-speak)

although, I'm not as doomesday as you are....I think, we could possibly reach a serious backlash of outrage by the working class of America...

I think also, that recessions come and go........we need more positive leadership at this time....THAT is about ALL washington needs to do........spark consumer confidence.....not spend, spend, spend.

Like I just said to PH....I have never stated we should do NOTHING, but I think we just went OVER the top....

and, I think there is still TOO much greedy congressmen looking out for number one, instead of doing what is best for this country.........and THAT has to start with the leadership....imo

Can you provide some examples of how you would have structured a stimulus package?

Having a cheerleader for president is what got us into this mess.

It wouldn't do any good, you would not understand the Conservative approach...I have stated on here before, and you refused to TRY to understand....we have been down this road TOO many times....it no longer makes any difference...the damage is done.

Bush did NOT get us into this mess...this mess was done by several greedy pricks in washington....from both parties...

this train wreck has been coming on for several years........

I really believe BO, could have avoided MUCH of this, with a more positive attitude, instead of worrying about trying to cover his ass....

unlike Rush, I do NOT want this president to fail.......I just want him to slow down with his liberal agenda's...and do what is best for the country NOT his legacy....I got a family to raise.

Is it beneath you to simply admit that you simply don't know the answer?  I willingly admit that I don't and I have a lot of experience solving complex business problems.

it is not beneath me ex........but, when I see how we handled previous recessions....and then we go and pass the largest spending bill in the history of the United States....I simply think, we should be looking at similar approaches, rather than doing the opposite.

Really?  Not that the current situation is like previous recessions but in which of those during your lifetime did we not cut taxes and increase spending?

well if you call 13 dollars a week a stimulus incentive.........and increasing the taxes of most of our entreprenuers...and spending through the roof, AFTER we have given away several BILLION to banks and auto industries...alrighty then.

You are concentrating on minutia and drifting from the bigger picture.

I'd hate to hear the caterwauling coming from the peanut gallery had the tax rates just been increased within the same brackets as usual. . .

Our economic crisis is because of greed. There was alot of houses on the market that the banks were holding. They got Washington to let up on the lending rules. Then in turn loaned money for these homes to people who could not afford them for the first year on interest only loans. After they reaped the interest they sold the loan to Freddie and Fannie(goverment backed) who then tried to cash in on the loans. People could not pay the payments and gave up the houses. Freddie and Fannie went broke and got the goverment to bail them out. By the way Bush, Cheney and many others tried to warn the House about this in 2006 and were told it wasn't so. Thats the way it was. JMO
Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!
