Anyone remember any of the old bars on Main Street when it was a happening strip?

The Stables or the Trade Winds?

me

I remember the Stables but was only there once.  I don't remember who was playing but they had a crowd.  I'm thinking it was sometime in the late 60's or early 70's that I was there.  The guy tending bar was a guy I had worked with in Muncie and I'm thinking his name was Al.

the Stables was the hopping place in Anderson for a long time until the cool place to be shifted to the Depot which then shifted to the San Franciso

me

There used to be a lot of hoppin' bars in town.  I remember one that wasn't on Main St. but I was there a couple of times and it was standing room only.  Don't remember the name of it but it was in the basement of what is now Wing On on Scatterfield by the mall.

Edited 'cause I just realized I put not instead of now...duh

We sent a kid into almost everyone of those old bars one night, seeing if they would serve him.  It's a wonder he didn't get killed.  The Trade Winds was one of those.

Gosh, so many of the players look familiar....can you put some names to their faces?

Also, I got only video, no audio when I viewed the clips.

Thanks!

Oh, and I think the basement bar was called the Kowloon, iirc.

Bingo....thats it.  I've been trying to remember that for quite sometime.
You might try watching it in IE if you're using Firefox.  For some reason there are some Youtube videos I can't get to play in Firefox but they're fine in IE.
Which video did you want the names on?

Just tried them from the link here in Firefox and they all worked and had sound.

That place was originally the Rathskeller. It became the Kowloon later on.

He should have tried the Caboose. I used to get carry out there way back when I was sixteen.

I recognize two of the three. Rare Form doesn't ring a bell.
They weren't around too long I don't think.

Anyone remember all the transformations of the San Francisco?

The next one was the Interurban if I remember right. Next one?

me

Now isn't that pathetic?  I know it was something between Interurban and Jamz but I can't think of it.  What's bad is I used to go up there all the time.  Sure hope someone comes up with it soon 'cause that's gonna drive me nuts.
