A fascinating disaster though from what I understand.

I have a book on Anderson jazz that has pictures of it in it's prime. It was a showcase.

I know you could get a drink if you were underage there.  I started going there when I was 19.  One night I walk in and my bartender said, you look happy to night.  I said I was, I turned 21 today.  Well, I was wonder how old you were and he laughed.  Good times in Anderson.

I don't remember Jim Manley's Big 4.  Where was it at, I thought I covered every bar in Anderson.  Even the Cedar Lounge, that was not a place where white boys go.  Thank goodness I was with a black friend.

The Big 4 was the northern part of the same building the Caboose was in. It was the backside of the Caboose and wound up being the Full Moon and finally Pelletrino's. The Big 4 was where the Democrat's held their Rooster club meetings which fell by the wayside after Jim Manley died. He also owned the Catholic religious store on Fletcher between 12th and 13th, the Notre Dame Bookshelf. I don't know if his daughter still runs it or if it's even still open.

I should remember where the Cedar Lounge was but I can't recall right off the top of my head. I'm pretty sure I was in it at one time or another since I used to carouse all the Westside bars at one time or another.   I used to go play at an after hours joint called Sonny Rays on w 19th just West of Madison.

Anyone remember Johnny Paycheck or George Jones playing the Third Base way back in the day?

I can't speak to the "Third Base", but I recall both artists.
